    Wow, cool!
Do you feel like it has affected your social life in a positive or negative way at all?

  4. Great post, I actually cut back about 95% of my alcohol in October as well.

Alcohol has generally been part of my life since I was 18 and in particular beer. I never thought much about it's use as I rarely have gotten "drunk" in the last few years though realized that I probably have had less than 10 days without a beer in 10 years. I've always been a "good" alcohol user so I've never gotten myself into trouble (except PMO) so I never had that external push to quit or cutback. I'm 29 now so the booze hits me a lot more and to make it worse my favourite beer kind is an IPA. My wife has been 40 some days sober and I've only had maybe 5 beer in that time. For me I noticed I was getting a little bit of a beer belly and I was frankly just tired of my head hurting, not hungover but yet still feeling it.

Since I've started I've saved a shit ton of money, lost weight and haven't woken up with a headache once. I don't plan on giving up alcohol though I do plan on controlling who I drink with and how much I drink when I do. I'm still figuring out when I'll drink but generally when out for dinner with my wife or certain buddies is when I plan on drinking and I plan to never exceed two beers.

I guess we'll see how it goes.

This is a great topic and one I have a bit of experience with. I've been sober from drugs and alcohol for almost 13 years but continuously battled other addictions along the way. The one thing I can say is I chose to drink and drug because it helped me escape me. P and M help me do the same thing which is part of the reason I still struggle.

Through the process, I've discovered that alcohol, drugs, PM are not necessarily the problem, but rather the solution to a far deeper problem, one that is centered within my brain.

By not drinking and drugging, I definitely feel my perception and ability to attack PM are greatly enhanced. If you feel that drinking is having a negative effect on your nofap sobriety, definitely eliminate it from your life.

For those who question why someone would enjoy getting drunk should also question why the enjoy PMO.

Good luck to you my friend and thanks for starting this important conversation.

I admitted to myself that I have a drug and alcohol problem, and now have been clean close to 5 months. I’ve never been happier in my life, especially now that I’ve been off porn 5 days.

I got "drunk" once. I was drunk enough to feel bad but not drunk enough to not care about it, it was horrible and humilliating. I will never drink ever again.

  11. This is a very useful thread for me.
I realised very recently that big hangovers are by far the biggest influence on my PMO habit, plus they are simply just unhealthy and unpleasant.
So, time to learn new habits.

You can’t change people, you have to change yourself. Let them drink and be content being sober or find new friends to do activities with.
