No scares from spam now

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Ogikubo, Mar 21, 2019.

  1. Have you ever received those stupid messages, usually found in your spam folder, from some Russian bot that claims to have a video of you watching porn? They try to scare you by dragging up a thousand year old password of yours, obviously taken from a site they hacked.
I have received a few and now I just laugh at them. But the first time, I must say, it freaked me out a bit. But there was no way anyone had such a video.
I just got another threat today. It just makes me laugh, especially considering that my "days without porn" count is steadily growing. But I do know that it isn't funny for everybody. I am sure some people have paid up, which we know is a mistake. Don't be fooled, guys.
Like a lot of people, I used to be utterly paranoid about my devices. "Delete history" was my middle name.
I am glad those days are gone and I am glad these scammers don't give me a moment of concern anymore. Another benefit of kicking the porn habit!

Nope, never. In fact, I haven't had even one item of any kind of spam this year so far. Happy days! :)

  4. I read an article in which some poor old woman, who never looked at anything porn in her life got one of these emails. Scared her to death, but luckily a relative was able to help her. The English they use on those notices is hilarious - but obviously some poor sucker pays.

  5. My uncle use to get a phone call from the same scammer every night and he got really sick of it. When they called one night, he spent like an hour straight just screwing with them acting like a little kid at one point and like someone who had no idea how to use their computer. The scammer spent a good 20min just trying to explain to him how to turn his computer on as he acted like he had no idea what he was doing. Serves him right lol
