    Hey,

I have been using this website for a week now and I guess it is helping. I have been clean for at least a week. But I feel no inter connectivity from this site. I can read other peoples posts but I feel that is about it.Am I just going about this wrong?

I'm not sure -- I just registered an account. Did you try and get an accountability partner? That might help.

  3. The best help is to give some. Don't ask for help - give it. It will come back 1000000000000000x more powerfully.

Cocorosie is right. Help and be helped. Inspire and be inspired. Your input is as valid as anyones and what you put in you get out etc :)

This! You learn so much and get more engaged when you start participating in helping others. I've always heard that the best way to learn something...is to teach it.

cocorosies right, if you contribute and comment on the forum, (especially encouragement in journals) and get some accountability partners than it will be reciprocated, i found keeping an active journal of my own experience helped to.

What everyone else has said. How do we help ourselves? We help others. So...help.

I understand what mere_billi_menu_meow means. Sure, offering support to others helps us as well, but it's not all we need. It's discouraging to make heartfelt posts about our struggle or asking sincere questions and get little or no response. Accountability partners is a great idea, but for me at least, my social anxiety makes me hesitate to take that step of building one-on-one relationships. It would be much more reassuring as a newbie for that support to naturally flow from the community. I have an idea of how to improve that, but I'll have to post that in a separate thread another day.

I'm very interested in reading this other thread you've mentioned whenever you post it. I have social anxiety too and I also find it difficult to build any type of one-on-one relationship or ask for what I really need. Sometimes I can't even admit what I really need to myself, let alone anyone else, if that makes any sense at all...

I've found keeping a journal to be helpful, as well as commenting on the journals of others who seem to be likeminded. As others said above, if you make a habit of encouraging other users, then they'll likely make a habit of encouraging you right back.

I also try to browse the success stories here and there when I'm feeling tempted, because helps just knowing that I AM NOT ALONE and that other people have been successful in this endeavor.

    Just my two cents.

I understand what all of you are saying. I just came in with an idea that I could jump right in and the support would be everywhere. But helping others to help yourself is a great idea too! However, it may be a bit selfish but I only get on nofap when I am on the verge. Otherwise, I try to stay off my computer. :/ Its a good way to not touch porn! Cant watch it if you don't have access!

  13. It's not selfish, it's a honourable way to do it. I wish I had the courage to get off the computer.
