What's everybody's opinion on giving up marijuana during the NoFap??? Since PMO effects dopamine receptors, and smoking weed also stimulates dopamine receptors, would it be wise to also refrain from toking occasionally? Since I've always used the two at the same time, I think, personally, smoking weed without PMO will be ok for me as long as I make an effort to cut back. My main motivation for NoFap is curing ED and libido level.

    Any thoughts or opinions appreciated!

I know that weed makes me horny as hell and allows me to fully immerse myself in porn fantasies; I'd have to reset my counter within an hour of smoking so I avoid it. I'm not sure how you react, but abstaining for a while couldn't hurt.

Smoking weed may make you horny while you're high, but habitual use can be a cause of both ED and low libido. (Citation)
Try going totally clean for a while and see what happens.

I somewhat still smoke weed everyday. Honestly when you end up blazing a lot, blazing makes me horny, and lazy which would probably lead to "fappin on my bed".

  5. It's an interesting idea. I don't smoke much. But luckily, it has never caused me to PMO. I think because beforehand I set a music playlist and fall asleep listening to the beautiful sounds. It's always been associated with music for me, rather than sex or masturbation.

I had a funny thought though: Smoking weed is a real experience. Watching porn and masturbating is a fake experience... it's not real sex. There could be something to that. You wouldn't count looking at videos of people smoking weed as a real experience of getting high, would you? Hmmm...

Absolute, I'm wild with ya. I tend to have the same scenarios play out when I blaze. Attempting to give it up along with fapping for a while to see how I feel. Will check back in later.

There are certain things-factors that can be a trigger for you to start watching porn and masturbate. In general alcohol and drugs(weeds) reduce your willpower and thus your chance of masturbating to porn increases. Boredom can also be a trigger. I would advise you to get to know what those trigerrs are for you and avoid them.

I first stopped smoking weed on June 21 after 7 years of daily use. I realised 5 days in that I hadn't PMO'd either! It wasn't intentional, I was just in a super positive place and had a lot of things going on this week. That lead me to YBOP then to here. So I am quitting both together, and actually feeling better than ever! Years of daily weed smoking and PMO habit kicked just like that.

It's testament to the power of our minds, anything is possible.

The dopamine I got from both is replaced with the feeling of hope and positivity for the future. I'm praying the cravings don't ever come but I'm prepared for them.

I joined a forum for drug addictions which helped prepare for the withdrawal symptoms, insomnia is the biggest one. My nightmares and cold sweats have stopped thankfully. My mind feels so much sharper!

Hello everyone, quitting weed ties in with my overall goal of self-improvement. I want to be the best I can be, and right now, I am absolutely not as fit as I was three years ago. I just imagine, what life would be like if I hadn't searched up porn, or I hadn't taken that first hit; and then I realize that I have a choice. Right now, I still have a quarter of dro, so I'm just going to take my time with this and then quit cold-turkey when I run out. For now, I'm okay with smoking, although it does get me a little horny. I would also like to quit coffee....in due time. I remember, back in high school, when I was on the swim team, my energy level was probably at the highest it had ever been (like 3x more energy than I have now), more energy than coffee could ever 'provide'.

Good luck, quitting weed is one of those things where you need to be mentally ready to move on with your life. A lot like NoFap. It's easy when you are truly ready.

@3 days ...Great to hear you have the motivaion to improve yourself. One problem with marijuana, for me at least, is it always reduced my level of motivation and ambition for at least a day or two following the day I smoked. I think that quitting porn and quitting, or at least reducing, the amount of weed you smoke, will greatly improve your overall well-being.

I "quit" weed a couple of years ago spontaneously, but would still smoke at parties and keep a little around for special occasions (supreme boredom *cough*). If you have a tendency for HOCD or SOCD or bipolar or schizophrenia then marijuana is linked to exasperating mental disorders that may lie under the surface, and it might be easier for your psyche to adjust to new habits without weed. I smoked a couple days into no PMO and got on netflix.

I forced myself to watch something about history that didn't look like it had any girls in it. Although Sacajawea did look kind of hot given the circumstance, I didn't have to battle any supreme urges from being online high.

When your brain starts to seek dopamine that it would normally get through PMO, you have to do something. Mindfulness meditation has been a life saver for me. When I get the urge for weed or alcohol, I have to feel that urge and ask where it is coming from. If it is just my body asking for dopamine, then I stay present and wait for it to pass. If I honestly would enjoy it and benefit from it, i.e. smoking and watching a documentary alone (hadn't done in awhile), or having a drink with friends and socializing, then I will accept the urge and follow it with moderation.
