NoFap for Christians

Hi, I'm new to nofap an I was wondering what does this group of individuals do for Christians who struggle with porn addictions or who want to stop fapping. I don't necessarily know if I'm a Christian or not, but I have been struggling with fapping for a while now and I'm trying to move beyond porn and masturbation.
 
Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

Why don't you know if you are a Christian or not? What is your confusion? The site supports everyone regardless of faith. I would suggest you go the the groups tab and you will find a Christian Fapstronaut group who will encourage you through prayer and scripture.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?
 
Thanks for the reply and the advice, DJ, I appreciate it. As for why I don't know if I'm a Christian or not... I don't really know. I guess I've never really been one for labels or anything like that.

As for combating PMO, I think faith can be a big help here. PMO can be overcome just like anxiety, depression, or any other issue that people struggle with. Having faith in God or in something bigger than oneself can help people to (forgive the cheesy slogan) say no to PMO.

05/08/17 UPDATE: I actually think the Christian faith can help people with NoFap. We are supposed to develop and display self control and not give in to "the desires of the flesh". So PMO is kind of out the window for those looking to be serious in their individual walks with the Lord. And it is for that reason I think Christianity, or at least parts of it, can aid people in NoFap. May God Bless those who need and seek Him and help them to overcome their struggles.

You give reason Christianity is helpful but you aren't sure you want to identified as one? I'm just trying to understand where you are. I as well as others will accept you either way but being able to commit to something will help you understand your commitment to something else like accepting you have an addiction at this time to porn and masturbation.

You're right, I do have an addiction to PMO which is the reason for my relapse today. And I admit that I need help which is why I'm here. And to be honest with you, I think that a lot of Christianity revolves around honesty. Honesty with God and with yourself. And, a lot of the things you do and say come from the heart, and you really do have to be true to your heart to live an honest and genuine life.

That being said, I don't really know where I stand when it comes to Christianity. What makes a Christian a Christian? Who determines who is or isn't a Christian? Do you simply have to believe that God exists or does it go deeper? God knows what's in your heart, He sees our true selves, there's no hiding from Him.

It is just that simple. You proclaim with you mouth and believe in your heart that Christ is the son of God who died and was resurrected for our sins; believing that without His resurrection we would not make it Heaven. That is all.

You may find it beneficial to begin your official journal as well. Go to the Reboot Logs and find your age group and begin your journal. Copy/ paste a link here so others can find you and encourage you along your journey.
 
You touched on the beginning, but I think it goes deeper. There's more to being a Christian than just being saved. I haven't experienced any such things myself, but I know of someone who has, he's the pastor at the church I go to and he often speaks about his life experiences and how the Holy Spirit has worked wonders in his life and how he has seen people with powerful anointing by God. If you or any other Christian Fapstronauts out there need help or prayer, I can make requests at the church I go to or I can provide a link to help people if they don't have a physical church they attend.

That is the core of salvation it is not deeper than that. Once you accept Christ, you begin to strengthen your walk and relationship with God. What your pastor has experienced occurred as his relationship with God developed. It was not a requirement to be a Christian but a level of devopment which occurred in his walk with Christ.

Romans 10:9-10New American Standard Bible (NASB)
9.that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10. for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

It is this simple.
 
Thank you, DJ, for your post. You have given me something to think about and meditate on. I think I have confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, but believing with my heart that God raised him from the dead and 40 days later he ascended into Heaven is probably where I am lacking(possibly). I will take time to reflect on this, like I said in an earlier post, each of us must remain true to our own hearts. And can I believe with mine that God raised Jesus from the dead on the third day?.....
 
I know writing things down in a journal can be a helpful tool, it's just something that I've never done and has never appealed to me to do. I'm not really the wordy, essay writer type.
 
Yea I do, I appreciate that the option is open, though I don't really see myself using it. Keeping a journal is just not my kind of thing I don't even know what to write in the damn thing anyways. "Day 1 exercised a little, drank beer watched tv. Day 2 same as day 1." example of what my journal entries would be like.
 
You write what you are dealing with on any given day and as you write, others will encourage you. If you go to the Reboot Logs, pick any age group and read a journal or two. You would be surprised at the growth of not only the writer but those that follow and comment. That's where the real work and help occurs, in the journals. Not everyone has one. Some will join someone else's journal and two or more will encourage each other in a group, others will journal amongst several journals. To share your struggles not only allows others to encourage you buyou help others when they read your journal, they feel as though someone else understands their pain and don't feel alone. Along the way you meet cool people and online friendships do form.
