Nofap is making me an insomniac!!!

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jul 25, 2019.

  1. Hello everyone. I need some help right now. I’m on god knows how many days of nofap, probably 4-5, and I’ve never been better. I feel like a part of myself has been reclaimed.

The problem is that the last two nights I’ve woken up with raging boners and impure thoughts about this girl. It was almost too much to bear. I was able to get to sleep, but I can’t keep losing sleep due to nofap.

Do you think this is a coincidence? Did I just have two sleepless nights at an inopportune time? If this is a common nofap thing, how can I remedy it?

    Thanks

Get up at the exact same time every day, even on weekends. Don't snooze. Your body is less likely to fall asleep if it doesn't know when to sleep and when to wake up.

Still, some nights you won't sleep much, that is manageable. Then you will be more tired at night, which makes it easier to fall asleep.

I would also recommend mindfulness. Body scan meditations are particularly helpful for falling asleep.

You'll need to have a lot more than 4-5 days. Look into sleep hygiene practices, a lot of people talk about it and it'll help with everything.

Agree with a lot of previous posts, Ive struggled with insomnia for 10+ years and what helped me a lot is changing certain habits to maintain a healthier sleep schedule. If you have a TV in your room, it might help to move it to the living room. Someone once told me that the bedroom is only for 2 things: sleeping and fucking. By maintaining that over the course of time, you train your brain to only do those things (look up the psychological effects of environment and how they shift when switching rooms).

As for raging boners and impure thoughts thats supposed to happen, completely normal and may vary in intesity depending on your age. Your brain is used to getting off to images and since youre healing youre seeking out a similar neurological pathway for release but this time with an actual human being. Its a good sign, accept it as it comes

  5. I wake up at 5:30 every morning. My alarm is set to repeat. The problem is not making it that far. I meditate daily as well, but honestly I need to up my game in that too.
    Thanks bro, really helpful

  7. Thanks! You have no idea how reassuring this is. I definitely need to look up sleep hygiene... and need to to work on stopping the use of my phone before bed. I think that could be a big factor

Definitely. Also, quitting any type of addictive/compulsive behavior is likely to lead to withdrawal symptoms, but riding them out will be worth it in the end.
