So last year, actually a year ago yesterday, I started a streak that would go on to last 287 days, my longest ever by 250+ days. At first, it helped everything in a huge way. That all changed around the thirty day mark when I started to notice it was becoming harder and harder to focus on anything and I was zoning out more than I ever did before by a long shot. This got worse and worse and even after relapse and more streaks, nothing got better.

I was recently diagnosed officially with ADHD by a psychologist and will probably try medication to help with these issues. The scientific reason for ADHD is a deficiency in dopamine in the brain- something that PMO gives you a big short term boost of. My hypothesis now is that going without PMO is what caused symptoms to go crazy like they did, not that it’s an excuse at all to go back because when I do go on medication I will be on a streak so it doesn’t interfere with treatment. I’m posting all of this to ask if anyone else has had a similar experience or just anything they wanted to add (no pun intended).

This implies that anyone that doesn't PMO regularly is prone to ADHD, which isn't true at all. NoFap rewires your brain back to normal, healthy settings. PMO causes your brain to go haywire on dopamine...quitting porn is healthy and does not cause issues like ADHD. Remember, correlation does not imply causation.

How old are you? ADHD is extremely rarely developed in adulthood. Are you sure that you didnt have it from early childhood and it was not only misdiagnosed as child?

"Though it's called adult ADHD, symptoms start in early childhood and continue into adulthood. In some cases, ADHD is not recognized or diagnosed until the person is an adult. Adult ADHD symptoms may not be as clear as ADHD symptoms in children." Source: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/adult-adhd/symptoms-causes/syc-20350878

For ADHD that was just a theory they had, and while people usually have less grey matter in the brain there's no solid connection to dopamine itself. While they say it can be genetic or not they have no idea what causes it, and so there's lots of medications for it to see what helps and what doesn't.

Im no scientist but if your brain is supposedly low on dopamine receptors to begin with, you should feel worse not better no? You don't gain dopamine receptors from doing that especially since porn is known to decrease the amount further, so you would think if it was a dopamine problem with ADHD like that you would feel worse and not better when doing that.

  6. i just wanted to add, to really know you have concentration problems that are biological in nature you have to live almost 100 procent pure. i mean by that: no soda, diet soda's, only healthy food, 4 times exercise in a week, meditation and good sleeping patterns and purpose in life. im no psychiater off course but i had very hard focus problems all my adult life. was prescribed relatine but didnt take them. when i started to live very sober : healthy food , no soda , no diet soda , hard fysical job, good sleep, no alcohol and playing chess it went away for 85 procent. i dont say this to downplay your difficulties. i know by fact most doctors dont know anything about healthy lifestyles and the impact on focus. example , the give coca cola to diabetics when they are low on sugar, wtf. I am no doctor so its only my suggestion to live for 2 month absolutely hard core healthy and revise your focus problems if they persist. because i had them for 15 years and they went away in two month by living hard core healthy. all the best
