OPINION: I think it is a good idea. Small goals may work for some, but others, myself included, are very goal oriented. I just don't get small goals I guess. My goal is to never relapse again. That has always been and will always be my goal. The vast majority here are the same. So smaller goals then "forever" are really just self delusion no? Why should we ever fail?

The paradigm needs to shift. If you set your goal for a day, a week, ten days, whatever, you are really just setting yourself up for failure. Because what happens after? Reaching goals gives people subconscious permission to relapse. This doesn't end guys. Ever. Let's start thinking big picture here. I say let's go for a year, and let's gain the strength we need to get it done. So what if other people relapse? We need not redicule the weak but we can sure surpass them. Let strength flourish, let the people's INTEGRITY come forth. Baptism by fire.

We will not, we cannot, AND WE CHOOSE NOT TO FAIL!

Non taken my friend, but maybe this way of thinking fits your style in life and Abel's, but people taking this challenge just feel like they can do it, even of they were an actual 1%, at least this group will have helped to change the life of one person, that enough cluld be our goal, but it's just like quitting smoking, some people can't quit it cold turkey and "think" they are addicted and they'd die if the don't smoke and feel depressed amd angry when no cigarettes around.. all that is just psychological. my point is let those who wanna try do it and keep your discouraging comments to yourself.

As a matter of fact I had a word with Alexander about that, and I was the one who asked him to remove it. :)

Guys I always said this and I'll say it again,
You are no way "forced" to take the challenge, forgive me but I literally feel "stupid" replying to such comments that say the challenge is too long, or that PMO is healthy and you shouldn't quit it for too long, etc. The challenge is clear and simple and the rules are set, if you CAN do it just join, if you CAN'T then just let other do it with clear minds
And hey, by the way, If you didn't take the challenge or if you actually TOOK it and failed god forbid, well guess what... it's "NOT THE END OF THE WORLD", you can alway stand up again and set a new challenge for yourself and DO IT, why would people beat themselves up over relapsing when thousands of people on this very site relapse everyday and reset their counters and start over? I don't see that as a problem, so again you are not going to die if you fail the challenge, the idea of that you're even thinking about it and counting the days, that's what WILL make you fail, it's just like Melancholy said.. we are here to quit forever, the year is just a "start", if you don't understand and accept that.. make sure you WILL fail even before you start.
One more thing, some comments have been negative energy on this thread, we seriously don't need that, with all due respect to everyone, if you are taking the challenge with its rules you're allowed to comment and share opinions, but if you're not taking it then I'm sure you have all the right to post anywhere else all over the site, just stop being negative.

How do you set a separate pmo counter?

you just click on any counter, it'll open the page where they ask you for password to edit yours, dont put in your password, instead click "make a new pmo counter" below it, you'll find it in a green circle, after you click it it takes you to a page to set the data and timers and everything and after you are done you copy the link and put it in the signature with the previous counter and there you go, you can put up to 3, try that out and if it doesn't work tell me and I'll go with you step by step. :)

There is nothing remotely encouraging about Abel's comments on this thread. I applaud those that have signed up for this and I wish you all the luck in the world and I will support anyone with such a positive outlook about their recovery. MelancholyWeightlifter is a role model worth listening to - I don't think he has looked at porn for nearly three years or something! Ramy is right, keep this thread and the ethos of this group: positive, positive, positive!

Just joined today, challenge accepted! I just deleted 46GB of carefully cultivated porn. It was less painful than I thought it would be. Hoping to go the distance.

    Hi Romeo [Ramy]!

I had an argument with Abel too in Mai 2014, you can get the details from here: http://tinyurl.com/pq6g8to

I noticed that this situation is much closer to mine, you wrote something, Abel wrote something back, you escalated the situation, and he escalated the situation even more, and the powerful guy won the battle.

I must be honest here, Abel SOUND really rude & cold in his replies sometimes, I used to hate him for that when he first become a moderator, but when I got to know him more and more, I realised that he is not a bad person at all, he struggles too with this addiction as well a lot of other things in his life, just like the rest of us.

He is a good guy, he just doesn’t sound like it sometimes because he use logic in his replies without any emotions or warmth included.

we have to keep in mind that Abel is moderating the whole forum for FREE for the last 9-10 months now, I didn’t see other people do that-including me- do that even of the fact that everyone can apply to become a moderator !

The link to become a moderator: http://tinyurl.com/qb89bar

Abel’s reply was not discouraging in my opinion, it’s just the reality, changing a habit (especially the PMO addiction) is HARD, I’ve seen a guy on nofap reddit who was a heroine addicted say that quitting the porn was much harder for him than quitting heroin.

I tried cold turky long time ago, and it just didn't work for me, it may work for you, but i'm going for the short term goals instead.

if I was in Abel’s place, I wouldn’t reply at your thread at all (yes, I’m selfish), because I know how people will feel when they start something and someone say : “you can’t do it”.

I would let them figure out that by themselves, but I would really want to see them success.

Just like my situation, Abel was trying to help, he just doesn’t sound like it from his comment.

As a conclusion, Abel is the not the enemy here, and neither you Romeo [Ramy], you are both I the same team, and what a team it is !

Our real enemy is PORN not each other.

I think this matter could be solved without any bane or edit of the comments, simply by explaining Abel’s comment: it was not writing with bad intention, and even if he didn’t say it, he does want to see you live a full year and your whole life without any relapse.

I think removing the bane will a good move from Abel to show his good intentions to Ramy, and to prove that he is not a dictator, and I really hope that this kind of situations won’t happen again because it make this place look like Hitler’s Germany.

However I don’t agree that Alexander should remove Abel, But I'm sure that Abel should not Bane Ramy or edite any comment.

make the peace between you guys, I’m sure you already have enough battles in your personal lives.

Chase! Good to hear from you! You basically said it all in your reply, but I want to reinforce some points, as an "old" member from the community:

I too think that this matter can be solved peacefully without banning anybody, and yes, Abel sounds rude and cold from time to time, but as Chase said, he said what he said to help and he means well.

The same as Chase, I want to highlight the fact that Abel has been moderating for free for almost a year. Thank to people like him and Alexander we have this great place to share our views, to improve ourselves and to help others.

And lastly... NoFap is our home, NoFap is a family. Sure, we all have different views, different backgrounds and sometimes we tend to disagree, but at the end of the day we have to remember that we're all here to quit PMO and to live a more meaningful life, and help others in the way.

    Galaxim.

I do not understand this decision and I am sorry to hear about it when all you have done is spread positive energy and goodness. God bless.
