Not Giving In to my Urges

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by LifeTransformation2017, Dec 29, 2015.

  1. So today I got 3 urges and it was really difficult, but I managed to resist them. I woke up and began to a have sexual thoughts. I continued to have these thoughts until I motivated myself not to PMO using my relapse prevention note. My relapse prevention note really motivated me not to PMO. If you would like to know what a relapse prevention note is I would be glad to explain it to you in the comments. It's something that I thought of myself and I feel that it's very effective in resisting those strong urges. It helps me and I'm sure it would help many of you reading this as well. Anyway I read my relapse prevention note and I became very motivated and lost my desire to PMO. However it didn't stop me from getting more urges later on. I got another urge when I went to the bathroom. I began to think about how good it would feel to masturbate and watch porn. I tried to stop thinking about the urge right away, but it was very difficult. Eventually I told myself "No I will not masturbate or watch porn" and I stopped thinking about the urge. Shortly after I got another urge when I went on the computer. I originally wanted to go on the computer to go on NoFap, but when I went on the computer I began to think about how good it would feel to masturbate to pictures of some of the girls I know in bikinis or watch porn. I resisted this urge by using the NoFap panic button app on my phone. At first I still had a desire to masturbate, but after looking at some of the content on the app I became really motivated not to PMO. It helped a lot and I'm really thankful for the developers that created that app. You created something awesome for us fapstronauts and I can't thank you enough. Through the panic button app I watched a really motivational video. I recommend it to anyone reading this thread that needs some extra motivation. Even if you think you don't need motivation right now bookmark it and watch it some other time. It's on YouTube and it's titled "The Best Motivation Video 2015 - THE POWER OF THE MIND". I highly recommend it. Overall I'm very glad that I resisted those urges. This is just the beginning of what will hopefully be me beating my record of 121 days and finally completing my ultimate goal of beating my addiction and living life porn and masturbation free. I've had a good taste of freedom. Those 4 months that I spent porn and masturbation free earlier this month was closest I came to beating my addiction. After a while my desire to PMO became less and less and I began to get less and less urges until I had little to no desire at all. I can achieve that kind of success again. When I get an urge I just have to immediately stop thinking about the urge find something to do. If the urge continues to linger I can read my relapse prevention note or use the NoFap panic button. I want to say thank you to anyone that read this. I hope any of you struggling fapstronauts can benefit from reading this. NoFap isn't easy but you can achieve success if you have the desire to live porn/masturbation free and take the right steps to resist your urges. I'm struggling too, but I've had success. Those 4 months was a great step in the right direction. I may have relapsed several times after that, but I can still achieve that kind of success again.

Hey man, that was an awesome read @LifeTransformation2015! You are pragmatic and you have a good understanding of the porn recovery approach. May I suggest you hit the edit button and reformat it into paragraphs for easier reading. :)
You don't mention having an erection, but I think it was quite likely. That always makes things much, much harder, lol: :p I'm very keen to see what your 'relapse prevention note is @LifeTransformation2015. Pease explain it or show it below...
Immediately stop! There is no better advice. In this sexualised world and with our body's sexual arousal built in, we have to be ready to deal with being horny. What you said there, is the single most effective approach. You have back-up plans too!

You have had some really difficult times recently, so it is gratifying to hear you focusing on what you have done well! :)

  3. I'm glad you like my thread IGY! My Relapse prevention note is a little note I wrote to myself to motivate me not to give in to an urge. I wrote things like: If you want to be truly happy then don't masturabate, If you want to be successful then don't masturbate, and If you want a girlfriend then don't masturbate. I also wrote about all the benefits I noticed during my longest streak. I highly recommend it. It motivates me more than anything not to relapse.
