What particularly interests me about nofap is the huge amount of benefits that come from it despite it's lack of mainstream acceptance. I was curious if anyone knows of any other methods of self improvement with a similarly significant effect that I wouldn't be likely to find on my own. For example, Clumsy has some interesting posts on the benefits of fasting that were observed in ancient cultures. He cited tons of obscure research highlighting how fasting leads to a detoxification and rebooting of health, as the body focuses solely on taking care of itself when not fed.

Who are you referring to when you say Clumsy? Is that someone on the NoFap forumns? I am curious to read the posts that you mentioned on the benefits of fasting. Could you post a link to the author or the posts/articles?

There are a lot of things that are out there that still aren't' mainstream.

    Chi Kung
    Natural Grounding
    Tantra yoga

These are actually relevant to overcoming porn addiction and transferring into dating and social awesomeness

Clumsy was a member here. Bear in mind his posts are all extreme and he comes across as unstable. But at the same time what he posted about is fascinating.

Intermittent fasting immediately comes to mind. I have been practicing it for months in combination with nofap and the results have been spectacular. I think it is the way we were designed to live - I feel so much better and healthier. I eat only one meal every day and have been doing so for months. No doctor or medical professional would ever recommend this but It was the answer I had been seeking. Just as porn companies water down the negative effects of porn, the food and fitness industries promote more frequent consumption to sell more products. Intermittent fasting is one of the greatest lifestyle choices I have made and I will continue it for life. It is important to not starve yourself and make sure your are meeting your nutritional needs but this can definitely be done with intermittent fasting.

Although less obscure especially in the nofap community, cold showers have been a huge benefit and I take one everyday. While such practices as nofap, fasting, and cold showers have had extremely good benefits for me physically, I consider the shift in mentality these practices have bestowed upon me to be the greatest gift I have received.

Hey thanks for the input, I've also been interested in IF but I've held off since I'm still growing. I'm currently 5 foot 5 and 18 and my dad as well as his grandfather grew from my height to 6 foot at 19. On top of that I'm also working out a ton and I have a naturally low body fat percentage (I'm 140lbs and basically 4% or so bf). Do you know if IF can have a negative impact on growth and muscle recovery?

Thats a good question im also still growing since I am 17. I can confidently say that IF does not hinder growth and muscle recovery if done correctly. I lift weights everyday and have experienced gains and rapid recovery even doing IF and in a caloric deficit. HOWEVER this is very important, frequency of meals is not an issue, however calories and macronutrients are. I recommend that you get a gram of protein per lb of body weight everyday if you are weightlifting. And your diet should be comprised of a balance of nutrients roughly 40℅ protein 40℅ carbs 20℅ fats. So long as you consolidate your nutritional and caloric needs in a smaller eating window you should be fine and even experience increased levels of human growth hormone. This is the strategy I have used for quite awhile and it has been very effective. You are 4% body fat?! That cant be right im like 5, 8 158 lbs and still well over 10℅ body fat.
