I genuinely think doing nofap with the goal of becoming some kind of superman is just another fantasy-based, egotistical type of masturbation that we addicts are prone to, and probably an indicator that you won't make it.

Even if you do get them (as many people say they have) I think its better to just focus on doing it because you want to be a better person, in general. If superpowers come, great. If not, you're still a better person.

As I said: These are because I learned to respect myself and put effort in.. I didn't "get super powers". I got benefits from gradually building self respect and my behaviour changed in accordance with the way I felt about myself.

There's a huge difference, and if you want to succeed at nofap I'd strongly recommend you give that some thought..

I just want to say thank you so much for posting this, and congratulations. It means a lot to hear good things from somebody who's actually experienced it first hand. Everything just seems so numb right now. I can't even hardly remember what it's like to enjoy life.

Right now, I'm in about the position where you started, I'm directionless. I can't get anything done, EVER. It's just...it's a nightmare.

Reading stories like this gives me so much hope for the future, it helps me keep in touch with that light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm glad it gave you hope.. I remember reading success stories which got me excited about what my life could be like, so I'm glad I can be that for somebody else..

    Best of luck to you!

Yeah man of course and I still fantasize and crave now occasionally.. Less than before, but its not 'gone'..

Its just that I've gotten to a point where cravings don't bother me anymore.. Its kind of like, do you panic if a fly lands on you? No, you either shoo it away, or you let it fly off on its own.

Sure, at first it seems like a huge deal to have cravings, but as you go along you just aren't as affected by them, because you learn that you're bigger and more powerful than the craving is..

That's natural, as it seems to be. As humans, we do fantasize every now and then, naturally. However, porn, porn makes you fantasize like crazy. Atleast that is the case with me.

Will, I was going to ask you to message me, and we could talk about what you did to quit, and how you could help me, and give me tips, but I see that you don't visit this website, often, so I shall ask someone else.

Anyway, thanks for you beautiful paragraphs. ;)

very inspiring thanks for sharing, great reminder that we should not give up even though we will not get superhuman powers, it's still better not to fap to porn and be in control over this addiction as a start and move on from there

This, right here, is what NoFap for me is about. To be able to let the urges pass and not give into them is such an empowering feeling.

Such an inspiring story. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I think your story is really inspiring. I am in a very long and hard series of flatline where I feel numb to anything but still have very strong urges. Sometimes, looking at beautiful girls or couples holding hands just tears my heart apart. I want to have laid like you but damn I am still a college student, having no jobs or financial independence, still living with parents. HOW CAN I GET LAID IN THIS SITUATION? The thoughts like these drive me INSANE before I attempt to approach any hot girl. TOO YOUNG, TOO IMMATURE. JUST SHUT UP BRAIN.

THESE CONFLICTS JUST KILL ME SLOWLY EVERY DAY. I FUCKING HATE BEING 18 YEARS OLD. JUST SOME FUCKING STUPID TIMELINE TO BE IN. I CAME THIS FAR BUT SHIT, THIS THING IS NOT OKAY AT ALL

for me this is the most related encouraging post, at least for now

i found out that all the superpowers that i feel right now is not made by nofap itself

it is because i made some effort's to battle this urge for porn like exercise, reading book's, eat healthy

which turn out became benefit for me

so i think that nofap is a media, a media to get better,, nofap alone will not givin u all this benefit but the action within it that matters

Bro. Thanks a lot for sharing amazing thoughts and your journey. We sure can learn a lot from you considering your streak and addiction time. Anyways, I just want you to shed more light on withdrawals. Many long term rebooters here including me are fighting long term withdrawals and want some tips on how to deal with them and secondly what exactly can be done to fasten the recovery. I am nearing 300 days but still going through severe withdrawals. My withdrawals are mainly social anxiety and general anxiety. I started this journey to cure my PIED which got cured after 8 months. I know there is not a specific time of recovery from withdrawals and everyone is different but I never thought that my withdrawals could stretch this looooong :(

Maybe its not just porn addiction for you?

Personally I found that a lot of the issues that the addiction was masking over started to bubble to the surface So maybe thats why you're feeling anxiety?

For example a lot of painful childhood memories etc. started to come up which I'd previously forgotten about..

Maybe they're not actually withdrawals, but you're getting closer to some kind of pain which made you an addict in the first place?

Sifting through and making sense of my childhood and linking it to anxiety/ depression I felt as an adult was a HUGE part of my recovery process, so maybe thats your next step?

Welcome back bro impressive streak my streak is about half yours at 361 days hard mode. The first year has been full of ups and downs and neutral days. During the first year of nofap my PAWS withdrawals have been heavy memory impairment, cognitive confusion, attention problems, anxiety, low energy, some depression, low motivation, low libido. They have been with me at different degrees but I’ve had some or all of it 90% of the days the past year. The last 2 months it’s been mostly the memory impairment that affects me the most on a daily basis. Did you experience a lift in your clarity at some point in your journey if so can you elaborate on it a bit about how and when. I am definitely not disappointed with what you had to say as the superpowers I seek is just feeling normal. I just don’t want to feel like I’m going upstream in my life anymore.

I know what you're saying but I just cannot find anything else that I was masking with my addiction. My childhood was good without any trauma. I started out on porn in mid teens because I liked it and got hooked. Anyways, maybe my mind needs more recovery time than usual. My addiction is 12years long. According to Gary Wilson, those who started out on high speed porn at young need time to repair their mind by this formula:

    # of years of addiction x 2 = # of months required for healing

So in my case, with 12 years addiction, I need 24 months to recover which is a very very long time.
