Tonight I was looking for a movie to watch and I saw Spring Breakers on the list of shows. Obviously a dumb idea for a movie in general, but I started watching the first few minutes anyway, not knowing exactly what was in the movie. What followed was my toughest struggle on the edge of relapsing I've ever had in my life. The opening scene is basically a bunch of really attractive women dancing in bikinis and then they get topless. Holy crap. That is a super bad trigger.

I paused the movie for a second and honestly grappled with the question of whether or not I should keep watching. In my mind I was thinking, "Everybody relapses sometime," "You can just start over again after this—who can blame you?" "The number of days really doesn't matter" and, "You have to have the experience of relapsing to really be proud of quitting permanently in the first place." Every single one of those statements is a lie. Those are satan's cunning deceptions he tries to make you believe. But I promise you, he does not care about you whatsoever—he just wants you to be miserable like himself. He never did and never will care about you.

Thankfully God gave me the strength to X out of the video and turn my phone off. I then immediately did 15 push ups and 15 jumping jacks to get my mind off of it.

At this point I am realizing that I am still vulnerable. 66 days in doesn't make me a master of nofap. Nor does 90 days. The real challenge and absolute key to success is knowing what your triggers are and how to avoid them at all costs, along with your powerful reasons for quitting.

Stay strong my friends. We can destroy this addiction. I hope one of you found this post helpful for your own journey.

Well done brother! Staring temptation in the face and overcoming it is extremely tough. Especially when your willpower can be turned against you with lies like 'everyone relapses' and 'the days don't matter.'

In that moment, you have to find something more to give you strength. I'm glad you did! Keep going, you're almost three quarters of the way through your challenge.

You've definitely given me some motivation to be more prepared for those triggers and not become complacent with thinking I can easily overcome the temptations that I know will only get stronger as time goes on.

    Keep us updated.

Good job. We all need to counteract PMO someway and I think you did it with the push ups. Remember to never go back to PMO. It won't help you. You don't need it. Finding out your triggers are important. If you want an AP let me know. I am looking for one in the month of July.

  4. We always have to try and remember that we are the ones who are in control of our own body. It's not the other way around. If I suddenly get a desire to touch myself, then I simply so NO, that's not what I'm going to do today. It's all about choices. I decide. You can have whatever it is you want. What is your hearts desire? I know that one of my hearts desires is to never masturbate again, so that's exactly the kind of life I'm going to lead, a life without masturbation or porn. Why? Because I say so.

You actually almost have to be arrogant and aggressive about it, because the urges are violent and aggressive and will try to trip you up all day long. Show it who's boss and be in control every minute.

Way to be pro-active to a trigger. Motivates me to find my own course of action when trigger arises.

you guys should read the power of habit. it helps with understanding addiction. Apparently you cant get rid of an addiction, you have to replace the habit with something else as ritual. Ive been using this forum as a way to do that. everytime i get an urge i go here. A little like AA

This same thing happens to me too! My mind would say "But if its in a movie, its not porn" so I had to define my own boundaries and as you can see, I had to put it in my signature as well.

Keep it up man! My best was 1 year, 3 months. And that's way before I knew about nofap or had any real intention to stop! I'm here because the habit came back in some dark times.
