i haven't heard of one person here or on reddit that has successfully beaten their addiction. i mean maybe they make it to a year or 2, but then eventually they relapse. not one person i've heard of has broken their addiction.

whats the point to keep worrying about streaks if all you do is relapse in the end?

this is one addiction that cannot be beat, unless someone can prove me otherwise i just don't think its worth it.

I don't really know but my opinion about this is:We are watched to much P,doing M to much,O to much, fantasies to much,we do this so long years, some people even decades. No matter how long you are doing nofap, triggers will still exist and potential relapse and edging can happen in any time in a day,so addicted for a lifetime.

My guess is that a lot of people beat a lot of addictions a lot of the time, it's just that they perhaps don't find the motivation to go into forums writing about it, since they mentally want to separate themselves from their former life.

  4. It's a reasonable question. But if you feel that daily PMO is ruining your quality of life, and you successfully complete a 90-day streak without it, that's arguably 90 days of improved life experience and relationships. And let's say you relapse for one day and then complete another 60 days. That equals one day of PMO and 150 days focused on other things in life. So I would argue that the streaks are worth it, even if perfection is not achieved.

You cannot be sure what will happen from now untill the end of the life,
But you i can promise you that the rest of your life would be much better without watching porn..

That is true. With recovering alcoholics, they never consider themselves 'recovered'. They are always 'recovering', even if it's been 50 years since they have had a drink. It is an addiction for life.
But, even if an addiction cannot be fully recovered, its usage can be reduced. Someone who posts here and is focused on streaks will certainly reduce their PMO significantly. If someone relapses every 10 days, that means that they are consistently going 10 days in a row clean instead of PMOing 2-3 times a day, for example. So its worth it.

Hi @ahighertruth, I have been in that place of cynicism and disbelief many times myself.

What I like to believe these days is that whether you are "in or out" of the state of addiction actually doesn't matter at all.
What matters is the constant will to fend away the urges and temptations.
If someone is fighting his/her addiction at a certain moment in his/her life, that person is beautiful in that moment, no matter how "far" he/she is on the path of recovery. I seek beauty not in the person that has supposedly "recovered", but in the person that is willing to change in that moment.

Or I just tell myself that true change, if it is to happen at all, will surface not in 90 days or even a year, but a decade. For some reason that comforts me.

    Good luck!

Well, I am more inclined to that it's a business for whole life to keeping away from the porn.
Actually in such a modern society which information is able to run faster than anything, no one is fortunate enough to stay away from porns. What we can do may not kill the porns, but keep it away as further as possible. No need hoping for 'forever'. We are not gods or goddesses after all.

Why you do anything if in the end you are gonna die anyway ? your see the similarity with this question ?
The point is that fighting addition makes your life better and you've got only one, so make that count ;)

I believe in reincarnation but I know that living without addiction and living with are completely different. Some people don’t get urges to watch porn because they probably didn’t watch it as often as us. The urges never go away once you become an addict, at least not from everything I’ve read on nofap.

To me what matters is that I fight it. Because I know it’s wrong for me.

Because most people have some other goals.
NoFap by itself is not a life goal.

    Getting GF is.
    Getting rid of PIED is.
    etc. etc.

You are harming yourself and your body. And if you are in a relationship you are certainly harming your SO.

Oh I don't believe in my eyes. Gentlemen, I think, some of your mindset about porn addiction and addiction itself is completely wrong. There are a lot of members and especially new members here, and I don't want to let misconceptions and misunderstandings. It is just my thoughts on rebooting.

Are you sure? If you haven't heard of any of them, I can count many of them. For example,

    Look at this guy:
    This guy:
    And this:

Also there are thousans of self-recovering reports on yourbrainonporn.com
    https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/rebooting-accounts/

I don't know your situation, how long you addicted or how long you are 'trying' nofap, but it is possible to recovering from porn induced problems. With saying 'porn addiction', it is actually dopamine addiction. It is not a substance like alcohol or drugs. We are carring it with in our heads. It is porn induced dopamine addiction. Porn addiction is a new phenomenon, right but it is more about our neural pathways. If you wired your brain for decades, constantly dopamine rushes, to pixels, you conditioned yourself deeply. .

Firstly, you have to get rid of the 'streak' things. Don't obsessed too much with it. This is the challenge requires to do everyday. And every moment you stay away from porn, your brain makes new connections, it rewires itself. Some guys have a counter on their signature but they don't change your mindsets about how they look the life. I see some guys on this kind of forums, "I quit PMO to have a GF", "I quit PMO to get rid of my ED" etc. This is more than that. Your frequency to watch porn is also important. For instance, you previously watch porn everyday, and then you decreased the amount, let's say once a month, it is still a success, right? Of course if you want to get rid of completely porn related problems in your life you have to cut off porn completely. Because you actually learn how to condition yourself to pixels. You maybe doing this for many years, everyday, a few times a day. And it is not easy. If you want to stay clean, you have to quit porn and related fantasies completely. If you come back to porn, you experience the same things.

What is your point of doing this? This thinking really helps for you? "I will eventually relapse one day, I will always addict and I will never gonna recover" Really? There are so many guys on the planet who overcome from it. You can do it also. Gabe is a human, if he overcome it, you can overcome it too. There is always hope.

If you are addicted like me (maybe more than half of my life) it is harder to quit, and harder to recover. But it is still possible. Our brains have ability to change itself until we die. This is called 'Neuroplasticity' Dr. Norman Doidge have a good book about it called The Brain That Changes Itself.

    https://www.amazon.com/Brain-That-Changes-Itself-Frontiers/dp/0143113100

I mean by recovering, you can have a good, better life.

    Have a good journey!

Totally. You better deal with it.

I've never been a porn addict but masturbation was highly damaging me.

I've been 5 years without a real girl because i was masturbating an average numbers of times, like 3-4 a week. As soon i quitted MO, lets say 80-90 days and my sex drive was back.

Some people who masturbates much more then me never had sex drive problems but i simply couldn't stand it. Masturbating simply is not for me :)
