Iliad is the manliest book I ever read.
Heatherington Poole was a character from the last episode of To the Manor Born, it was a British sitcom in the late 70's through early 80's. It was such a pompous stuffy name, basically it reminds me to not take life too seriously and stay light hearted.
@TheSilentAce1 I remembee this but I never noticed the thread!
My username "Owari" means "End" in Japanese. In Japanese it's 終わり。 Me studying Japanese, I thought it would be interesting to use a Japanese word, and Owari in particular actually sounds like a name! I chose Owari because it represents my resolve to end my filthy, perverted, and disgusting addiction.
Mine is based on a conversation I had with a friend. I told her I couldn't feel romantic love clearly because my depression was keeping me numb, and that I couldn't have a relationship even though I wanted one badly. She said that I reminded her of sleeping beauty because it was like my depression was keeping me asleep, but one day I would wake up and afterwards I would find my prince. I'm pretty sure my depression is caused by masturbation. Her sweet analogy cheers me up and motivates me, so I decided to use it here.
I made up my name. Itornael. And my picture is of a crow riding on the backs of an eagle. The bigger birds help the smaller ones that's the idea it represents.
Brokkr Is the god of forging and he made Thor's hammer. It's my biggest hobby besides fishing.
I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. I just need to kick this last bad habit.
Ooooooooooooh scary .
Would've just used my real first name but some inactive jerk took it a while ago. Toshiro is about as close as it gets to the Japanese version of my real name.
It is inspired by the late great Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune. Total badass. Like a Russell Crowe, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, and Tom Hardy all rolled up into one delicious piece of sushi of an actor.
Same here. I had a sudden realisation a couple of years ago that I was not enjoying the lifestyle I had been conditioned to believe should be so enjoyable. I didn't know about Straight Edge at the time, but when I did discover it I was amazed and inspired that there was a group of people who had taken such a principled stand against what I had come to see as massively destructive social norms.
Straight Edge has a bad rep with some people for all sorts of reasons:
There are those who adopt it as a quasi-religious cult, using it to deal with their insecurities and acting aggressively to non-edge people.
It has been shamelesslesly exploited for commercial self interest by some performance artists (thinking mainly of wrestlers here)
Mainly in Russia the concept has been hijacked by far right extremists as a kind of violent purity cult.
There is a problem with 14 year olds pontificating about Straight Edge on the Internet when they often don't have the life experience to understand what they are saying.
But at heart it is just about self-discipline and making conscious, ethical choices about how you live your life.
Straight Edge isn't something I talk about in public because it isn't anybody else's business. I don't have Xs tattooed all over me. The most obvious it gets is when I wear a tshirt that is identifiably edge, but sXe has never really been a thing where I live so hardly anyone would know. In any case, it's not a badge of honour. It's more a way to help me feel like I'm not alone and not crazy in standing up to the huge social and commercial pressure on me to conform to something I don't want.
I don't accept for myself the societal norm that sexual pleasure should be on tap whenever, like some kind of cheap lager. I don't accept the mainstream Hollywood/TV/porn version of what adult relationships should be like. For that reason, nofap was a natural next step for me once I identified as Straight Edge. For many people, Straight Edge has a specific 'no f-ck' component. This is not an outright rejection of sex but a rejection of meaningless, animalistic sex. I would say PMO fits that description pretty well.
My username signifies all of this, while also containing a bad joke about me being a former edger.
A constellation Homer points out to Pepe.
Many like to point out if i play videogames (i do actually) like League of legends or Dota because of my name.
No! I named myself jungler because as a kid i used to climb up tall trees. Either that or jungle boy.
i like dragonballz. thus recoome.
Mine's no secret, I love 80s cheese and my name is Jennifer. Everyone wins.
I'd never heard of this song, so I looked on YouTube. It is very special .
You'd be surprised how many people ask me about those random numbers in my username. But don't call me Jenny
Exactly my thoughts too man, right on!
