P addiction and gaming addiction

Nowadays, it's either "P addiction" or "gaming addiction" for me. If I leave porn i find myself back to gaming. If I leave gaming I find myself back to P...
Today I have deleted the game I was last playing, and I'm back to this forum after a while.
I kinda have an addictive personality, which sucks mostly. But I want to invest this into being addicted to productive things, like studying and researching etc... I believe this can be done but I can't find the first step to take. I can't find the passion to study, I mean I do love my section (medicine), and I'm sometimes motivated to achieve big stuff but it's nothing compared to the motivation I have to achieve a quest in a game!
Anyways I'm having a fresh start now, on both nofap and nogame, living by these words: “He who would accomplish little need sacrifice little; he who would achieve much must sacrifice much. He who would attain highly must sacrifice greatly.”

Happy new year firstly! Good point on gaming&porn replacing addiction. It has been happening to me too. But I think limiting games like max 1-2 hours a day may be a good solution. At least for me coz it's no tv for me for a long time, also games can be good interacive entertainment if they are under control. If they are out of control, no mercy for them!! And Ofc No mercy for P. Take care man, I like to hear about how your journey will be. Stay Strong!

    Happy new year to you.

Leaving Porn and/or videogame addiction is not easy. Still, its absolutely worth the effort (and the tears, the blood, and pretty much all the prices you pay for freedom). Best of luck, and by all means feel free to share your experience with the forum or ask anything you might need to know.

  5. I used to be a major World Of Warcraft addict, I realized at around the age of 20 that these, time wasting, bad posture causing stupid games are simply made to be addictive on purpose!. Each time you achieve something you get a hit of dopamine the feel good chemical, so at the start of the game leveling etc is easy. This is to get your brain wired and hooked, then it slowly gets harder and harder so that you chase the next *high*. If you could level from like 1 to 85 in one day all of your dopamine would be used up and you would have desensitized yourself and just find a new game. I used to spend 8 hours a day and wasted all my youth to this game, now ive quit for around 3 years and I have no desire to play games as I know these psychological tricks. Anything new you start at first will be hard like your studying etc, but I read on a video online somewhere that if you keep at it for a number of weeks and months your brain will start to create reward circuits within your brain so that you repeat the task. your brain thinks its to your survival to study so that it will physically rewire itsself and eventually you will enjoy it. Just whatever you do dont replace the gaming addiction for a worse addiction, thats the trap most guys fall into.

Thank you a lot @bomonti @taqwa and @avatarivn even though it's a bit late to reply but I had some exams going, which kinda helped in both Nofap and Nogame btw. I won't be leaving this forum again...
Your story is very inspiring to me, quitting games once and for all is really admirable! I will be there hopefully... thanks for the motivation man

It has been already said here.

I dont think there is something like addictive personality - cause we all are! And thats the point of giving up the addiction. It is not easy - never! But as everything on this world it is possible!

I dont remember exactly where but there is a post made by student of medicine and it is a pure gold in case of our fight. Follow his lead. The problem is that we´ve lost our native leaders that supposed to make a men from us... but we do our best!

Keep going, you will overcome this, i bet you will!!!
