Something I have noticed recently is when I get an erection for the most part it just stays up. But it's sometimes what I need to think about to get it up. So I might need to think of something more kinky, or more porn like. But then after I get the erection I change my thoughts to more realistic thoughts, just imagining I am having sexual intercourse with a woman I know. But the strange thing is sometimes when I first think of these women I know I am not getting a solid erection, but when I change to the more kinky thoughts or porn thoughts for a few minutes I get a solid erection, and then I switch back to the more realistic thoughts and the erection stays up.

We all have different goals on this. My goals are not stopping masturbation for life. My goals are stopping porn and artificial sexual stimulation for life.

It also says on yourbrainonporn do what works for you. Stopping masturbation for life doesn't work for me. It also says on yourbrainonporn they're not an anti masturbation website, and they believe the problem is porn.

I also believe the problem is caused by the sexual novelty on high speed internet, and guys masturbated before high speed internet and didn't encounter the problems guys are encountering today.

So I don't want to get in to a debate with anyone about that. If you think masturbation on it's own causes long term erectile dysfunction I disagree with you, and that's all I want to say about that.

The only way I've known to heal so far is no PMO.. all 3. There isnt a shortcut. Even just masturbating to get off will hurt progress. You're sexually exhausted, period. This is why you're having bad after effects. If you weren't experiencing the side effects, then you wouldnt be here. In my mind P is the biggest problem because of all that dopamine release, O is the next because of all that nutrient loss that is very hard for an exhausted body and mind to take on, and then M would be last, but even on it's own is still a part of the equation that abstinence is needed in order to fully heal back to a healthy state. Masturbation isnt so healthy afterall. It's like 1 sip of alcohol isnt good for an alcoholic. Why would you keep an ember burning? My goal is to fully extinguish the flames and that's what I've been doing for several weeks now. The withdrawal has been hell, but its neccessary to remind me of what I've done. Then when the withdrawal is over, I can feel healthy and energetic and never PMO again. Period. We are to learn from this and not take shortcuts or try to cheat the healing process. Hard mode is the only way to feel alive again, and I want it no other way. It took me over half of a year of many streaks and relapses and I relapsed for the very last time weeks ago. I see the positive results slowly happening and I'm sticking with it. I'm convinced if you're not all in, meaning 100% no PMO, you will heal Much much slower. Who wants that?

Yeah I've been on this journey for nearly 2 years, so I get what you mean about it taking longer.

I no longer get withdrawal anymore. I went through all of that severely. I used to get longer streaks, like a month and things like that. These days I usually relapse once a fortnight or sometimes once a week. But yeah even though I occasionally relapse the withdrawal hasn't been returning.

My mental health is much better overall and the PIED is almost cured.

I guess what your saying is true if you want to recover quickly, like within a few months or something.
