Love can turn into hate, pleasure becomes suffering. Happiness in sadness.
All these are extreme states of mind, you can’t keep any of them forever.
Suffering comes from getting attached to these shallow feelings and states of mind. I find the middle path a stoic approach sort to speak more enjoyable.
A state in which you are unbothered by happiness or sadness, because you know they change. The only sure thing is change.
Conclusion: don’t attach to impermanence, feelings are impermanent. A calm state of mind both in happiness and sorrow is permanent joy and a step closer to wisdom.
