Hello friends. So as I said in my 25 yr old virgin post a few days ago,I joined the Army Reserves when I was 19 yrs old.I was already addicted to porn but stayed in shape enough to be able to join. For me the process of basic training was a huge relief for me,like a therapy.Waking up and always concentrated in the matters at hand because we didnt have access to the internet in there. Then relapsed during christmas leave whenbi got home cuz of the easy access to a computer and phone.
When I came back to basic to finish the last 2 months I had left, again I got clean and back to clarity.Went to AIT (Army Individual Training) for 2 more months and was a little difficult because I relapsed once again due to all in there having easy access to out smart phones, but I still managed to graduate from the training.
While in those trainings we could reunite in church and also were given talks about suicide prevention and also PTSD.But I noticed that we were naver talked to about Porn Addiction induced depression wich,I without a doubt is a huge cause of the rise of suicides of young men in the military.Masturbation being something that most of society has been tricked to be an actual stress relief (wich is bs because I was only getting worse) why arent there huge discussions about the damaging effects of porn in the military?
In 2 years that I spent in the army reserves (even though my training drills were only a weekend a month) I never heard or was called to a reaunion aimed towards porn induced depression and the damaging effects it was and is still ocurring amongst young people in the military. What do you guys think?

  2. I think In the military we grow up in a culture where 1SG or your Platoon sergeant are usually talking about how their wives don't have sex with them and they constantly talk about porn. It seems like when I was young and enlisted it was very normal to talk about different porn and exchange links and it seems like the weirder the better. But I think really it's something leaders need to address. It's not a good habit and it messes with our relationships. It's not normal and we need to break this trend of glorifying alcoholism and porn addiction. I didn't realize how damaging it was until very recently. I know if I feel this way and you feel this way about it there must be others. Maybe it's something to bring up in your next Command Climate Survey? High ups read that info. But I agree with you 100%

  3. Have you noticed it's only been a very recent development of the huge problem of people exchanging nude pics of others with out consent? I'm glad that's being addressed finally. I think the Marines are doing a good job with brining that to light.
