I just installed Qustodio parental control software but lost my connection. I uninstalled it and my internet was back.

I connect to a university WiFi network which requires in-browser authentication. Anyone have any experience of these networks? There are a lot of things I can not do, like connect a WiFi radio.

Any ideas how to get around this? I like the software.

    Hi

I believe, and this is just an educated guess, that the sort of internet access you have is dependent on ports on your machine being open to receive internet traffic and/or provide identification to the network you are connecting to. My guess is that Qustodio is locking down all your ports.

Either that or Qustodio is blocking the in-broswer authentication page because it "works differently" to normal web pages and therefore is treating it as suspicious. If Qustodio has the option to "allow" a web site I would add the authentication page to the list.

The final problem may be that Qustodio is also doing some malware protection action and there maybe some issue about the fact that your internet requests are being sent to one place but the response is coming from somewhere else (the uni's system). See is Qustodio has an option to switch off things like malware protection.

At the end of the day I would either approach your uni's IT support and ask for help (tell them your neice visists and you want to allow her to use your computer, but not access anything bad) or switch to another system. In my researching of your problem I came across this page that has lots of different protection options.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!
