Hi guys. How many of you guys have installed Porn blocker on your devices and is it a must to install it if you're on this journey ? or we can do this without the blockers too.

I have yet to install any blockers on my browser, but I made sure to mute all nsfw channels on the discord servers i'm on so I won't see updates for those. My goal is to be able to see pornographic images (as in ads on certain websites, not watching any porn) and not get the urge to MO, and until that happens, not give in to it. I think that's the only way that's going to happen. It's like people who went through AA or programs to stop drinking that have truly succeeded. They can be around alcohol, but not give in to start drinking it because they know that if they do, then they won't stop because they have addictive personalities.
That being said, since a lot of us are starting out and the temptations are going to hit hard, then blockers might be useful for the first 30 days, possibly 90 if it hits hard enough. I'm on 15 days right now and this is the longest I've gone in my life since I started so I might even have to get blockers installed myself if further down the line it gets more difficult. Maybe someone who has succeeded in 90 days can have better insight on it, but that's just my input.

  3. I would recommend installing a popup blocker only if someone you trust put in the password. It's not a must, but if you feel your addiction is getting out of control, popup blocker slows your addiction down. From my experience, my addiction got so bad that i would spend all my time and energy trying to find ways around the popup blocker or lie to the person who put on the password for my popup blocker. It's not magic pill that cures your addiction, but it def can help slow it down.

Side note, I cancelled my internet and still found ways to watch porn. But after trial and error to figure out the most effective recovery treatment for me, i'm on one of my best streaks at the moment, Day 65!

I think it's the best thing I've ever brought. I'm day 38/39 and I thank the site blockers for that. My friend put the password on it so I have no access to it.

It may be interesting to see this if a lot of people vote on the poll, but that still tells you nothing about yourself. Not only is it a question of do you personally need it, it's also qualified in terms of whether you need it now in this stage of the journey. You just said "on this journey" - you didn't say when.

Whatever you do, be honest with yourself and know yourself well enough. And no, that doesn't automatically mean you rely on will power. If you change your mind so much you don't like PMO anymore, even if it's not 100% but close, then you won't WANT to access porn anymore. You don't need will power to not do things you don't want to do.

Take as much precaution as u need. Only u will know whether does it benefits you. U can never be too careful in this journey.

My only important advice is to gain control of your own thoughts then u will have full control of yourself. Desire is like any other feeling eg. happiness, sadness, etc. It comes and goes away with time.
My current situation is that, sexual fantasies still hit me constantly but i would not let it drag me in any further by cutting it off instantly. I used this same method to cut off my social media, gaming and anime usage totally.
Try writing down your own thoughts at certain interval on daily basis, then u can see what you are constantly thinking of. I mean like really writing down EVERYTHING that goes through your head.

I've installed a content blocker, set up opendns, got rid of my smartphone. I had my wife set new passwords for all these countermeasures, so I have no real way of getting back in without her help. The way I see it, if I don't have any access to the things that are bad for me, I won't go after them. I am an intensely lazy person when it comes to my leisure pursuits, which is ironically my greatest strength in this case.

I don't eat sweets if they're not in the house. I don't look at porn when there's none to be found in any easily accessable way. I realise it's different for everyone, but I have enough self awareness to know I don't have enough willpower all the time to get me through this.

  10. 1/ Everyday do good habits and self care. Use a chart to measure how consistently you do each good habit. Examples of good habits are: cleaning, studying a topic you're interested in, cooking, etc. Examples of self care are: meditating, exercise, writing in your journal, socializing with people, brushing teeth, flossing, etc.
*meditation is helpful and effective to treat the fantasizing and thoughts. The hard part is getting started and to consistently do it everyday.
*give yourself a mental break. Instead of using porn or video games, I find shooting hoops and listening to music very helpful.
2/ I joined a weekly accountability group on this site. I have consistently shown up to every weekly meeting and also optional drop in meetings.
3/ I've had years of therapy before I got to this point. Please note, finding the right therapist for you can be a hit or miss. Some maybe very helpful while others can hurt you, you have to do your own research and trial and error in order to find the right one. Be careful of anyone trying to push medication on you. Therapy is optional and not mandatory, only do this if you're comfortable and have the financial means.
4/ Being active on this forum. Learn from others or be supportive of others that are struggling.
