Does anybody have any recommendations for porn blocking software? I'm looking for something that you don't have to put a password into because then it is possible for me to just put in the password. Really anything that will make it harder to access porn sites is what i need.

I think most software out there has a password in one form or another, even if it's just for configuration. Most people recommend giving passwords to a trusted person.

Here's a good list of several options. You'll have to look at what fits your situation.

Edit: I apologize for taking so long to get you an answer.

K9 by Blue Coat systems is free and installable on your personal PC.

Its funny readin this because, its like there is another person your trying to stop. But its you. But ain't that truth.. When your dealing with a craving of an addiction, its almost like there is.

K9 only might not be sufficient you need to abstain from other sources like google images any other search engine you know about and even youtube.Youtube is kind of ok if you don't know how to find the vanilla content there, but if you are like me you should do it.I was able to find content even with child protection on which is very disturbing thing and can make you feel even worse for yourself. So my recomendation: No Youtube, or any other similar site for video content.

You need to disable Internet Explorer too as it's the most dangerous browser on the planet and have no defence and can't be actually uninstalled.

I was using Firefox with a set of plugins.Ad Blocker Ultimate which has this wonderful function to block elements from pages.I used it to block safe settings of youtube from appearing and google images button, because i could not trust myself with this kind of power.

The other is SafeFrom.net helper which i used to lock the setting of firefox so i can't deactivate Ad Blocker Ultimate. You should use "about:addons" in blacklist, so you can't open addons settings without permission. For this to work you need someone to hold the passowords and be available if you find a breach in your secuirty to give it back to you.I personally used a friend of mine.I send him extremely powerful password of type: hlkwehflkweflkjw and delete the sms afterwards.

Check out OpenDns.com find your router model and maker, go trough the steps and setup secondary defence just in case.

And last but not least lock your smart phone and/or tablet somewhere for the first two weeks and use old school phone without internet connection.I couldn't find any viable way to setup defence on android devices.I hear iphone has some level of protection built in.

You may keep your AP or pass holder very busy in the beginning and you may fail to commit and relapse a lot every time you find new source of novelty but keep adding them to the blacklist and block them from appearing until there is no more.

Be well!Stay strong my friend i was where you stand, it's possible! And it becomes easier with each day!

Very true. A porn blocker cant stop that person. Only you can, but it certainly helps.

Use only library computers if it's not safe there ask them why there is no defence. All library computers in UK where i worked until recently has protection that's i believe funded by goverment.

From my experience is relying on someone else (even software) to police you is fundamentally wrong. Unless you mentally and emotionally convinced with your actions and willing to undergo a full evaluation to your thoughts, probably everything else will fail. Remember, we are not kids anymore.

I used a multitude of blocks on my tablet that block one another as well all with impossible to remember passwords and a false security email, these blocks were built up after each slip and give you strength to mentally tell your craving no it's not possible anymore, this is great for the first 30-60 ish days where you can feel the benefits which can act as motivation and set you on the right path improving your life even if you do relapse but then you hit a point where say you find a way around the block now you don't have that safety net and it's very difficult to stop yourself from taking at least a peek at P
(I've done this 3 times at least but have not reset due to no M or O and using my self control to close the tabs and walk away which is extremely hard to do btw, and gives you the excruciating pain of blue balls)

That's why from now on I'm not improving my defenses I'm focusing on stopping myself. I advise you do a similar thing because In reality that's the only way you can break the habit permanently.

Good luck with your journey :):emoji_clap::emoji_thumbsup:

In the US, many libraries have pushed to have access on freedom of speech grounds. They usually allow it by either having unfiltered wifi, or a dedicated computer lab for adults that is unfiltered. Access to porn gets pushed as a fundamental right, and blocking it is considered as bad as burning books.

Has anyone tried HOSTS file? You can override the DNS of any website and route it to nowhere.

On windows 10 its in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

You can route any website to localhost ( 127.0.0.1) and it will not load.

    Example entry:
    127.0.0.1 www.badwebsite.com
    127.0.0.1 badwebsite.com

You need admin rights to edit it, add your fav porn sites and trigger sites. You could put a password on your main windows account with some random password you can't remember, Write it down and give it to someone and tell them not to let you have it back for a month. Make another user account that has no admin rights, logout and use your computer with this account. So when the porn demon takes over your mind, you won't be able to edit this hosts file and remove the DNS overrides.

    Only Cons:
You won't be able to install any new software or use software that requires admin privilege.

you have to add extension in your chrome browser just go to settings -> extensions -> get more extensions -> type "Anti porn pro" then search -> click on "add to chrome". Now you are all done whenever you open any porn website it will block it and display "Web access blocked" .. and no password is required.. hope it helped

  16. It's great K9 works for many but for it became a nightmare. After a few months of using, it malfunctioned and ended up blocking every site.

    Now I use TalkTalk's filter.

If you did use software with a password I've heard of one technique that may or may not work for you. You write the obviously complex and impossible to remember password down on a piece of paper. You then freeze that piece of paper (maybe in a zip lock bag) in a block of ice. That way if you really need the password you have it. But it will take a while to get to. This may not be enough but I just mention it as an option.

Funny and sad. My problem is I know enough about computers to thwart most systems. The only real way for me to block myself (again funny but sad) is to not have any computer device or to be alone with it.

    Just some other ideas.
You could rent a safe deposit at the bank and put the password in there too. Or you could buy a personal safe box, then throw away the key. You'll have to order a pack of lock picks and learn lock picking to open it.

I use even better, no software. I use familysafe DNS that I programmed it into the router.
The DNS can be entered manually on a computer if you don't have access to a router, whether it is Windows, Linux, or Macintosh.

    DNS: 208.67.222.123
    Alternative DNS: 208.67.220.123

The downside, if someone is good with computers, they can bypass it by manually changing the DNS on the computer. I do this at times when I slip back into the porn addiction, as it only takes a minute to do, however I find it does help some.
    I hope it helps.

At the end of the day, I like to think of blockers as a way to make sure I know I'm responsible for my actions. They're just speedbumps. But that can still be useful.

I like the idea of accountability software better, even if the ongoing price is not great, especially for younger people. I like the idea of being able to go wherever I want with the understanding that someone may question me on it.
