Hi, I'm new here. I wouldn't say I was ever addicted to porn but I used to occasionally watch it, but I stopped more than ten years ago.

Now for the problem; for the past two years i have relapsed but rather than looking at porn on the net etc I replay scenes I have seen in my head, and also I make up scenarios in my head where I imagine myself having sex and what positions etc. Most of the time I don't feel aroused it just is a compulsion.

I have attempted NoFap but I find myself relapsing. Currently I have gone for a month.

I feel my obsessive visualising of sex is ruining my life as I can no longer concentrate on my Hobbies, work etc.

I have social anxiety, depression, anxiety, and I am a 38 year old virgin.

  3. Welcome, Fordie!
How are you treating your mood and anxiety disorders? you may need to work on those in order to achieve success with PMO... what positive, productive things have you started putting in place to replace your obsessive thoughts about sex/PMO, and what do you do when the obsessing starts to break the cycle?

Hi, and thankyou. I've been on citalopram for years, trying to distract myself with my hobbies but very difficult to ignore thoughts.

Once I get a thought it builds and builds and won't go until I have obsessed over it.

  5. maybe a med switch is needed? seems like the citalopram isn't really working for the ruminating/obsessive thoughts... does exercise, meditation, anything else help you shift your train of thought?

    Are you doing any psychotherapy?

Sounds like you have a real battle on your hands. How is your progress going? What can we do for you. I have anxiety as well. Just joined and looking forward to progressing with the nofap way. Thanks for your honesty.

Hi thanks for replying. I do a bit of cycling, a bit of weight training, a bit of climbing on an indoor wall. It helps to some degree I guess but I always have the thoughts in the background sort of waiting to push through if you know what I mean, I consciously have to force myself not to have the thoughts but eventually the pressure builds up so much the thoughts win, and then I feel like a failure. Not sure about the meds will have to have a word with my doc

  11. Don't confuse what you do with who you are. You may feel badly that you keep having obsessive sexual images popping up, but remember that despite that, you are a beloved son of God. You are worth more than you can imagine, and you need to see yourself as God sees you...fearfully and wonderfully made...(Ps 139:14) in His image and likeness.
Please read Psalm 139. You are fully known and loved.
And I agree with Awedouble that psychotherapy may be very helpful as well. Praying for you, brother. Have a great day!

Urgh I had a kind of relapse. I was half awake in my bed this morning and I started thinking about sex, I was close to fapping but resisted. I just am depressed because I was thinking obsessively about sex again, I mean actually imagining myself having sex.
