    Hey everyone,
Yes, I masturbated after fantasizing for 3 hours. However, I do not feel like I relapsed.
According to YourBrainOnPorn.com masturbation is not a relapse, but porn is.
    Porn is the true enemy.
Before I say anything else, I am NOT saying masturbation is good for your libido. HOWEVER, edging (which I have now accepted to include excessive fantasizing w/o orgasm) is VERY bad for your libido. SO - IF you are feeling horny (and can't get it off your mind/no partner) then masturbation is acceptable IMO.
HOWEVER: LIMIT MASTURBATION AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow, I feel like such a hypocrite... After all the months I have been posting "absolutely no M". Well, everytime I relapsed it was with Porn and masturbation. This time it was just masturbation, and I have no brain fog, I don't feel depressed, and I have a feeling that my sex drive will be more or less the same tomorrow. -- this may be because I have over 90 days of no porn behind me -- Thus, I encourage anyone under 90 days to not masturbate at all.
Your brain needs time off from masturbation for at least 3 months. But to be honest, it become extremely difficult to not have some sort of sexual pleasure after 3 months. You end up fantasizing (basically edging) and you will say "fuck it" and go watch porn [which is the WORST thing you can do].
    ---------------------------------------
TL;DR - There is no too long didn't read, everything I said was important.
The point is we should all be getting laid, not watching porn.
Porn is the root cause of PIED, desensitization, and anxiety.
YES, IT IS BEST TO AVOID MASTURBATION - IF YOU CAN - but I do not believe jacking off once in a while ( months ) will reset your progress, and YBOP supports this way of thinking.
Don't watch porn, don't edge, and limit masturbation - That's how you fully reboot

I am of the belief that everyone's route will be different but I took MO out as well as MO will lead me to want to PMO but that said I am married and have a limited but functioning sex life.

It's an interesting point, personally I want to avoid masturbation completely. Everyone is different though and has different goals. I agree that nobody under 90 days should be masturbating anyway

I don't think that you are a hypocrite. But I do think that you are starting to flip flop.

So you masturbated. You're an addict. Sometimes we just mess up.

But when you try and justify the masturbation because no porn was involved, you have changed your position on the issue.

I'm suggesting that you go back to your previous position. If you start to justify masturbating to fantasy, it is just a matter of time before porn creeps back in.

    Example...

I was actually in the midst of a good streak when I went on vacation. I succumbed to masturbating while fantasizing (porn was not accessible). I started to miss the porn. I got home and out came the porn.

Go back to your previous position. I think that it is the correct position. Call it a relapse, reset or nothing at all. Just don't flip flop.

Update 3/19/16: Woke up today with morning wood. I can still get horny from imagining girls only. Last night I masturbated and had a good orgasm that I wouldn't of had when PMOing.
However, I will now try to not Masturbate for another couple of months now that I know I'm still ok.

I will periodically update this thread with my experiences after masturbating a total of 5 times since day 91, for research. -but so far I feel fine.

Me personally, I try to avoid masturbation along with porn, because in my own experience, once I start masturbating, porn is just around the corner. Every time you masturbate, you take one step closer to watching porn, whether you know it or not.

I'm not trying to undermine your thoughts about masturbation, but let us look at the most optimal solution here:
So porn is a no-no. Porn is a fake stimulation that rewires your brain to get off by making love to pixels. No one should ever watch porn. Edging can be harmful; it's a waste of time and it floods your brain with dopamine for excessive periods of time.
But is masturbation a mere release of your seed without the rewiring effect on your brain? I don't know. But I think masturbation is not the most optimal solution. Why would anyone ejaculate with no purpose? I understand that sexual stress is annoying but the body will take care of that on its own through wet dreams.
The most optimal release would then be real life sex with a partner IMO.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. P is really just there to facilitate M. M really is the problem. Eliminate the need to M, and P goes with it.

I agree, I would not recommend masturbation on a regular basis, maybe once a month, or once every 2 months

With all due respect, I respect your opinion. However, my post is based on information on YourBrainOnPorn.com.
    Screenshot (2).png
I realize this is "NoFap", and I support no masturbation, however I simply believe that Porn is far worse then M.
Edging is considered to be far worse then masturbation. IMO edging can include excessive fantasizing (no M, but no O). So it is better to M than sit in your bed for 5 hours fantasizing about sex. I don't believe fantasizing for a few minutes is harmful, but when it gets to hours that's edging IMO.
So yes, the optimal release would be with real life sex partner. However, that is not always available.
My main point is edging is worse then M; and some consider it to be even worse then P. If someone is M 10 - 20 times a day then yes that is harmful, but once or twice every couple months AFTER 90 days (if you have no sex partner) according to YBOP is not going to affect your reboot.
But yes, I am in support of no masturbation as long as possible.

Some would say its internet Porn( not porn) that's the trouble for many of the issues regarding PIED . Yes i think you are right its all pretty complicated and everyone must choose there own path depending on their believes and symptoms,
My belief is its the Dopamine overload thats the issue, too much and the brain becomes desensitized. may that be to porn, edging or just masturbating, Its the time doing it that creates the issue.
I agree Get the 90 days out of the way No porn, no masturbation and then decide what your path should be.

  13. I think it depends to what one is addicted to. Are you addicted to porn? Or are you addicted to too much masturbation, which can happen even without any porn and ruin one's life just as much? Or are you addicted to masturbation TO porn? If too much masturbation is your addiction then masturbation might count as a relapse while watching porn might not count as relapse, because that was never your problem, masturbation was. On other hand, if that's masturbation TO porn that was your problem, then masturbation alone might not count as a relapse, if porn was not involved. Or if masturbation was not your problem but just porn was then just watching porn might count as relapse even if you did not MO'd to it. I just think before we say what is and what is not relapse we should look at different conditions such as what one's addiction actually was for. And of course we all are different, for some porn addicts masturbation might be a trigger to watch porn and for some not. I know for me it might be. So if I would masturbate now I would count it as a relapse because for me porn was a problem, too much masturbation TO porn was a problem and also just too much masturbation in general even without porn was a problem.

Here is my thought process. I have not used p or m for seven days. For me I think it was the p the was the problem. I was looking at work, while driving, I would pull over and watch, bathroom at work or home, with my kids in the room, etc. after seven days of no p, I no longer miss it. Typically I would not be able to m without it as it would be a no go pied. Today I experimented and was able to m without p and become aroused. That's PROGRESS! I get turned on when my wife enters the room. PROGRESS. I think finding the addiction will dictate what is deemed a relapse. I do feel great today. No brain fog. Connected. I did not o so not sure what that outcome may be. But the experiment was a good one. For me anyway.

There is nothing wrong with masturbation. It's the constant craving between orgasms that is the problem. It consumes us. Some people can masturbate just like some people can drink w/o it being a problem. I am not one of those people that can afford to masturbate. I've suffered plenty trying to figure this out. I do find it intriguing that YBOP would suggest that. But then "that" isn't for me.

Update: Well I must have masturbated a total of 15 times since the OP.
How do i feel: At first the orgasms were fairly intense, but i became obsessed and started masturbating everyday. Now I just want to stop masturbating and just orgasm when i find a girl. But i have no brain fog, I can still get hard after a day or so.
Have my thoughts changed?: No, I still believe that porn is far worse then masturbation. Porn is the cause of brain fog and PIED. I believe excessive M can lead to desensitization, but will go back to normal quickly. But for me i am just going to cut off all masturbation now.

Just masturbated to sensation only - HOLY SHIT!
Orgasm was intense and it had only been 2 days since last M.

I'll still try to not M but jesus christ I haven't felt that feeling in a long time.:)
This proves that Porn is really behind the majority of problems.

Porn is the main enemy but from experience I can tell you that eventually masturbating to sensation will lead to fantasizing for MO. Which leads to becoming a habit, and become a daily release. It happened to me, and then I had a bad turn in my life, and ended up ultimately doing PMO again. here I am all over again. Someone who managed to go 10 months free if PORN, but was jerking it every day to fantasy........ which the lead to porn, again all over. I wasn't able to get it up with a partner, and now I'm back here from square root one.

it's best to avoid it all together. We are addicts.... discipline yourself to release with a partner. When I didn't have a partner, I started Moing again, and like I explained earlier it became and every day thing until I found someone. Was able to still perform, but once we broke up... four month stretch of MOing turned into porn for the last couple months straight. I wans't able to perform when I met someone.

  19. I've tried to refrain from entering this conversation, because I so totally disagree with everything you're saying, but here's my two cents...

Whether or not you believe masturbating is always wrong or sometimes wrong or never wrong isn't the issue. The issue I see, here, is this: how on earth is it healthy to fantasize for three hours and masturbate to finish it off? Honestly, scratch that. It's not about health. You could argue that it's healthy. But the point is, what is that adding to your life? I, personally, see that as you wasting three hours of your life on something completely pointless. Now I'm not trying to judge you, because I certainly waste a lot of time, myself, watching TV and other useless crap, but I'm not under some delusion that sitting around watching TV all day is a great way to spend my time. It's just not. That's just not true. Spending all of your time and life thinking about sex is a waste of your existence. I'm not just speaking to you, directly, or attacking you, I'm speaking to everyone. It's a total waste of your life, and that makes me sad. I wish and hope to see you care about something more than you care about having sex and getting girls, because there is so much more out there to experience and feel for and care about.

To me, and I have said before, the two go hand in hand. More often than not I start with P and end up masturbating. But what should I expect after watching so much P and with a boner.
