Porn isn't evil...?

I'm starting to understand this new idea that everytime I call porn evil, or I hear/read someone else call porn evil, I sub-consiously feel evil when I relapse to watching porn. I mean, how can the brain not make this sub-conscious connection? This is very conflicting with the idea I've had all my life that I'm a good person, therefore this sub-conscious thought that I have will ultimately lead to more relapse in the future due to conflicting sub-conscious beliefs.

See, the universe just doesn't care whether or not you think porn is evil. It just is. It exists, and you have to accept it. Fighting the idea that porn should or should not exist will always be a losing battle in your mind...that is, until porn stops existing.

Part of reclaiming our minds is accepting our limitations and downfalls. Not only accepting them, but loving them unconditionally. The more you fight them, the more you deny a part of yourself. Simply put, denying who you are will keep you in the spiral of relapse. Get out of the spiral by accepting that your "darkness" exists whether you like it or not.

I don't think this is some universal truth to the subject of PMO. 'Evil' is some metaphysical substance in this world. It doens't go around in bottles, it's not a fluid in our bodies which we do not control or some injection we get by watching porn. My guess would be you made this assumption to stimulate your pursuit of NoFap (or rather the opposite, of not watching porn).

To take this discussion to a broader point, the existence of porn is not the cause of our struggles, it is the existence of either our conscious, thinking brain or the existence of our instincts. Our conscious brain is the cause of us to realise we are still bound to our animalistic behaviours, of seeking gratification or lingering on to hope that 'one day it might all be over'. On the other hand are our instincts the reason why we seek pleasures and can't help to feel sad once we try to break our patterns, which will lead to a search for gratification once more.

I reckon you are a follower of a faith? I'm not to judge, I'm curious wether these ideas originate from a theology.

Good and evil are concepts that exist only within the human mind. No physical thing can be inherently good or evil; it just is. It is our own internal interpretation of the stimulus we receive which causes us to label something good or evil, but once again this distinction exists only in the mind.

I understand in a way. I don't see it as evil, but more of a aspect of my life I don't wan't and I'm attempting to get rid of it. I see it as a nuisance now. I think its how each individuals consciousness perceives it.

Man, you are totally correct about porn...

It is evil. I mean, if we define evil in the Christian terms.

    Reason:

    1. It makes damage to the person watching.
    2. It makes tremendous damage to the porn actors/actresses.

The love of money is the root of all evil...

so there is a good chance it destroys the morals of the producer/producers.

    //

I don't think that Atheists/Humanists do believe in good and evil absolutes...

I also think that this is a problem of the modern society. Because if you do not consider those concepts of absolute good and absolute evil, there is no way to defend yourself against the those who do. (Terrorism)

    About:

-> I am not sure if you can call it acceptance. I would say "let go" or "let it slide".

I think acceptance can mean that you say "I am fat" and one has to accept it.

I would say that the key is somewhere else. I think that: You need to become the best person you can, and you need to learn to have the best influence on your environment, you can have.

    1. If you will be good every single day, you will be happy.
    2. If you will have a good impact on your environment (people around you) then you will be happy too.
