    Hi all,

I cannot help but observe that almost everywhere in the media, fapping and porn viewing is being seen as routine and harmless. All the "mainstream" researches quoted point towards the same things:

    1. No energy dip due to masturbation.
    2. Testosterone increase due to masturbation.
    3. Masturbation is psychologically healthy.

    To digress from these conclusions:
    1. I highly doubt the statistical rigour of most of these tests and experiments.
    2. I also doubt that the metrics chosen for these conclusions may only be looking at the surface of the matter.

To top all these things, NoFap is largely viewed in negative connotations as some sort of a cult. I looked at the Wiki page and without good backing, criticisms seem to be too harsh.

I sometimes cannot help but think, are these press releases on over exaggerated benefits some sort of propaganda by people benefiting from the sex industry?

I will give you an example: There are studies which say masturbation can decrease risk of prostate cancer, while on the other hand, some recent studies also showed that it increases the risk of prostate cancer. I am speculating that both of these studies may be based on poor statistical samples and frameworks, and used metrics which are not robust. I do not get much time from my job, but I will dig deeper and confirm the credibility of these "researches" in later posts.

I love NoFap. And I believe in reason. I have good reason to believe that, at the least, self-control will yield huge benefits in people's lives. People can have better foresight with self control, and can forge strong relationships based on more than superficial attraction. A more impactful and evident benefit is that such people will raise their children better, who will grow up to serve the society.

Please let me know on your thoughts, and things I should look into, so that we can save people from strawman opinion, currently widespread in the media. Any kind of help would be much appreciated.

I think you have touched on it above... our small insignificant NoFap 'movement' is fighting against a multi million pound/dollar/euro business
