I meant that we can't have such a thing like pornless society, but at least someone can have pornless mind. It was clear I think.
What difference does that even make? All a person needs is an internet connection and they will easily find some porn even if a country blocks certain sites. My view is this: Right from the start, governments have completely failed to control the internet and have allowed all this damn porn flowing into everyones homes. I don't know what they should have done but maybe warned people or something. The internet is such great invention and porn is ruining it. Nice thread by the way.
Maybe in the future, nothing is impossible, but that would happen if the whole word waged a war at porn, but I don't think that this will ever happen. How sad...
I was talking about the total banning of porn like here in my country we don't have our own porn websites, we don't have our own porn actors and actresses etc.. And you know what's funny they even came up with award giving bodies like giving awards to best porn actors and actresses, it's pathetic. And I'm not imposing my values on anyone, it's a free world but that doesn't mean you can do everything you want without getting the necessary consequences that you need to get. If you want you can have/teach your kids as early as 1 year old to watch porn and masturbate after all it boils down to you being a responsible parent or not. It's fucking hilarious!
And it all depends on world leaders. It's sad but I see that majority of countries in the world legalized porn. It takes a good leader for a country to be porn free in general terms. That's where the role of government takes place, that's why laws are made. And no again, it's not imposing one's values on people, it's making rules for the benefit of the society. Imagine God gave us free will but comes along with it are responsibilities. Now if you aim for absolute freedom my friend you're on the wrong track, cuz I don't see anything peaceful with a government lacking in morals, it's like creating laws without laws itself, you're just fooling yourselves. I don't want to live in a chaotic world of lawlessness. Imagine countries legalizing abortion, drugs, bestiality, adultery, prostitution, etc.. they claim to have laws but their laws tell themselves they have no laws at all, it's funny. Now if you legalize them all cuz prohibiting them is forcing your values to people what good will it bring to the society. It takes a sound mind to be a good leader and decide what's good for your country and that's where the role of a good leader takes place.
This is why we need an absolute standard of morality. In our world, unless we have an absolute standard of morality, humans will just keep fighting about who's morality is better. Since western societies tend to be pluralistic, where everyone is right and no one is wrong, everyone's morality is equal and that's why there will never be peace if everyone chooses their own morality because different opinions will always be at odds. This is why an absolute standard is necessary. Eg. One person could decide not to follow the laws set forth by a society, and they would be allowed to in a pluralistic society, where everyone chooses their own morality and no one can tell the other person they are wrong.
Agree, I think you're the only one who gets my point everyone is playing smart. For other people's info there is such a thing called "absolute truth" in case they don't know it.
This thought is terrifying. It sounds nice when your morality is the one you want imposed, but imagine someone with a totally different morality making the same assertion. Having opinions at odds leads to fighting, but that is better than absolutism with the most powerful imposing their values on everyone. Read a little moral philosophy; there is no perfect system. That certainly may be your belief, but absolute truths, if they exist at all are few and far between. You are more than welcome to have a belief system based on an absolute truth, but not everyone is going to agree to that premise.
Wow now that is just damn scary the amount of child pornography that is legal. And not for nothing but I have known guys, not friends, that go to the Phillipines to engage in whatever sex act their demented little minds can dream of. They go there bc it's ridiculously easy and cheap. So the Phillipines is definitely not untouched by the porn effect.
Not my morality. I wouldn't want someone following my sense of morality. I am a deeply flawed, narrow minded individual just like everyone else. Someone with a higher intelligence than humanity is needed to provide an absolute moral standard. Living in a subjective world with no absolutes is scary. Someone could steal a car and it would be allowed in a world where opinions rule. You can't tell that person that they are wrong.
I accept you may not be aware of it, but The Philippines generates a lot of porn - especially illegal child porn. I saw a TV documentary about this about two weeks ago. Two mothers (also sisters) have large families each of boys and girls. They were making a lot of money by selling their children to Americans for sex. Kids aged just 8 and 9 were 'advertised' to do anything the client wanted. The documentary showed the break up of this operation which is rampant in your country.
