I know fantasizing is bad, so I have this question:

What if you fantasize for like less than 5-10 seconds or like a short time or stop yourself during fantasizing or thinking about porn? Would that be a relapse and will it give me the dopamine rush that we are supposed to avoid? Because I am not feeding or indulging the fantasy, I am not stuck in it.

If it's that short it shouldn't be a problem

Alright so if it's short and I don't get stuck in it it shouldn't be a problem? Thanks!

You're playing with fire here. No matter what anyone says, fantasizing is very bad. It spoils you're reboot and in my opinion, it is borderline relapse. For brain, there is no difference between watching porn and imagining porn. You will have a very difficult journey if you continue fantasizing and benefits of reboot would be seriously diminished. Saying this from 3 years + experience.

How about if it's very short and you just stop yourself?

  7. I have fallen prey to fantasizing a couple of times ending into a relapse. The question is.. What is it you are fantasizing about, if it is porn you should never forget that relapse begins in the mind, it can start as 5 brief minutes and escalate into long periods of fantasy. The idea is that you immediately switch off your fantasies about porn whenever they come up. On the contrary I have found fantasizing about a real sexual encounter you had rather a little bit safer but still risky, because in the imagery of your fantasy while making love with your partner, the partner might end up being replaced by a porn star and that is the point when you might lose it.

Intrusive thoughts are totally normal and human. Even the most mindful Buddhist monk will tell you that he receives uninvited thoughts every day. But he is trained not to latch onto it or go where it's going.

You say it is fantasy so I take it these thoughts are sexually exciting. Don't feel bad about that. Like I said, uninvited thoughts happen to everyone. The question is what are you doing next? If you are observing that it is a thought, and one that could lead you down the wrong road, and making the decision not to grab hold of it, and that takes 5-10 seconds and you move on, then in my opinion that is fine.

If some of those seconds are engaged in fantasy, like maybe making up dialogue or switching camera angles in your mind, etc. for a few seconds, then that is different. You are latching on to the thought and the pleasurable feeling it gives you. That is where you are being risky with your addiction. As Aluta said, a relapse begins in the mind. So take notice of what you are doing in those 5-10 seconds and you will know if it has changed from a natural but intrusive thought into a very short but also very potent fantasy.

Just keep stopping yourself ALWAYS and keep moving on. Slowly and steadily, you will develop control. It took me two long years to realize the reason of me not reaping the full benefits of reboot. I never got rid of imagining porn in my mind. As soon as I cleaned my mind, I started getting results.

No form of fantasizing is good. Let's just say one second of fantisizing is one second too long. Just refrain from it as far as you possibly can. Its for the best.
