    Hey guys,

    I'm new to nofap and I definitely have PIED, im currently on day 4 (first attemp) of no PMO. But I just have a quick question as I am obviously new, I have had no libido, no MW (barely did anyway) and no general horniness whatsoever. Is this normal or can someone explain why, just so i have a better understanding as I am still learning.

    Thank you

    Hey, this seems to be pretty normal, it is refered to as "flatline", i cant tell you why exactly this happens, but most people who try nofap experience this at some point. Dont worry, your libido will return soon enough, stay strong, dont try to "get it up just to see if it still works" i made that mistake myself, and it can cost you your streak.

    These effects are very common. You are flatlining (see The Glossary^).

    I did think that but what confused me is I didn't expect it straight away?

    Yes, it usually kicks in after a couple of weeks. But you will find that an abbreviation we use here is YMMV i.e. your mileage may vary. So, this is not an exact science. And I have read other accounts of people entering a flatline straight away. What @backtolife42 said is important. DO NOT test your dick! :rolleyes: It will feel 'dead' for a while, it won't get hard and it may even appear to shrink a bit. All these things are temporary. So, trust the process and let your progress happen in its own time.

    @Wtbdizz

    I am no expert but I wondered the same thing (flatline for me too). I saw this video and sort of helped me understand.
    Using the analogy in the video. you built a pretty strong path/road to porn town. Congrats on digging up that road and no longer traveling on it. Perhaps you need to figure out some new roads to start building.

    For me it was falling in love again with my wife and starting to romance her. we haven't even had sex since I started this about a week ago, but its started to drive me crazy thinking about doing it., after having almost no desire for her when I was immersed in the porn addiction (go figure :). I can feel the excitement building in her too as she has noticed I am paying more attention to her. looking deeply into her eyes more, etc etc.

    BUT.... This is slippery slope and you must be very self aware and careful as the risk is you build a road back to something you think is not porn, but actually is just another version of porn.

    I am so happy for your progress mate, well done. I wish you and your wife all the best. I definitely have dug up that road,I am just worried about flat lining on day 1, It'll probably pass but I have 0 sexual urges and it's concerning

    Every single thing around this comes back to biochemistry in your brain. If you begin to understand the biochemistry , you begin to understand the problem. Only when understanding the problem can you begin to solve.

    Small problem thought doing that with Flatline . Cliff notes: There appears to several theories but scientists dont even fully understand what causes it.. The fear some feel about the "pipes never working" is maybe Limbic part of your brain using this to trick you back into porn. Don;t fall for it As I dont think there is any scientific conclusions that prove this true or even partially true.

    Regardless of the truth here, I'd try to remove the fear of flatline (pipes never working again) from your belief system and replace it with something else

    Instead maybe start building some new roads (neural pathways) in your brain by thinking about taking actions toward healthy. romantic, loving relationships you'd like to start or existing one you'd like to make stronger . Think about the best way to go about that.
