Quit Porn for Your Mom's Sake

Celebrated my dear mother today, and I know not everyone has a great relationship with their moms, but I recognize that one of the people hurt most by my struggle with porn is my own mom :/ And she was one of the first people I lied to about my struggle with porn. Lied to her face. On multiple occasions. And used her laptop to look at porn, and avoided her in my adolescence whenever I was using, and she would find out when some stray pic wound up in her recycling bin or in her browser history... these stories are still sore for me, but the sad fact is these kinds of experiences will sound familiar for so many of us when it comes to our moms.

I regret all of that so much now, but I'm grateful for how much grace and patience my mom has shown for me over the years. Me and her, we're tight now. So how about this: let's quit porn for the sake of our moms, right? And our sisters, cousins, friends, girlfriends, wives, whoever. For all the women in our lives, let's quit this shit. Because the women in our lives have put up with our shit way too long to have us not stick it out in our fight against porn and objectification.

Sure, many of our moms aren't perfect either, nor is every woman in our lives a perfect angel (we shouldn't expect them to be)-- but I think it's fair to say women as a whole deserve better than we give them when we're caught up in porn. And I don't want my mom or any other woman who's important to me to have to deal with Me. On porn. Ever again.
