Hello you all, This is officially my first post here. I´ve been trying to quit Porn for about 3 years. Been up and down. Been seeing how bad this can be to me and experienced lots of short term 'recovery' periods. I´ve also got some longer ones, but I must say there weren´t many... I really can´t take it anymore! I´m completely aware of the harm it does to myself, although we usually tend to shadow this part when 'seduced by the wonders of porn', right? But I don´t want this anymore. It really doesn´t make any good, it really doesn´t add anything! It´s a f... drug! Although I´ve been reading many of noFap´s threads, I had never considered joining it before. But now I figured that maybe being amongst others fighting the same battle will do good. So here I am. Hope this will be the first of a long ininterrupted daily posting journey of success! P.s: Forgive my english, not a native speaker here
Welcome PRTe, brace step deciding to join and share your recovery with us. I've found this place to be huge in helping me move forward and I'm sure you will too! Godspeed Sojourner
Welcome brother. Sometimes you need help to quit an addiction. It's nothing to be ashamed about. I joined yesterday and now I'm trying to get better. I got incouragement on my first day, passing the favor. Good Luck!!
Wish you all the best in your endeavour to end this vicious and compulsive porn-masturbation-orgasm cycle. All I know is that initially it will be an experiment as there is no one size fits all strategy to end PMO as you find out what works and what doesn't from the suggestions in this site from fellow fapstronauts. If you have not already read them, I recommend 2 books in particular that are proving vital to me: No More Mr Nice Guy by Robert Glover and The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. All the best again.
Thanks a lot! I´ll check them out. And you´re completely right, there´s no one size strategy. But what we´ve all got in common is the will to end this cycle, right?! So let´s do it!
Welcome here. Joining here is a great step towards success. I recommend you learn everything reboot related so that you can make a plan and execute it. I wish you all the best. Feel free to ask me for help. I will try my best to help you. Good luck man!
Nice book recommendations. I would swap The Slight Edge with the Compound effect. It is mostly the same concept but I think the Compound effect just is a better book.
Thanks for the recommendation. I have not heard of that book before and will add it to my reading list.
Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you. How are you progressing today? What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?
Thanks a lot for your message, D.J.. It´s been quite difficult to be honest... I haven´t watched any porn for almost 2 weeks now, but I´ve 'found' lighter substitutes and I 'M'd sometimes... It´s been so f... hard, it seem like a cycle or a trap from which I can´t get released. I´ve been feeling awful these days... But I´m not thinking about giving up, ever! I´ve had some great periods inside this 2 years struggle in which I managed to go 30 or more days out of this addiction and if I fall another 257 times, I´ll get on my feet and try again and again, until that point I know me enough to really abandon this. And I hope it´ll not take long... Once again, thank you for your message. I´ll definitely pass away the kindness to others in need as soon as I can!
Congratulations on your current progress!!! This may be the most difficult challenge you undertake in your life simply because are attempting to change an engrained habit or in many cases it's not a habit but a lifestyle. Check out In Case You Didn't Know for strategies and tips which may help you along your journey.
