Rat Park Experiment

After coming across the rat park experiment, i can see the correlation to PMO also. Anybody else seen it? Basically when a rat was in a cage with 2 water bottles, one containing regular water, one containing cocaine and water solution. The rat would drink the cocaine water until it would die. This was the belief that addictive substances caused addiction........Rat park was an elaborated experiment on the rat in a cage, The cage was replaced by a larger enclosed area, other rats were present, also plenty of tunnels and things for the rats to keep busy with. with there being more than one rat in the cage, they were busy either with each other, or playing around in the tunnels and generally having rat fun. none of the rats drank the solution until it killed them. Thus the conclusion was that the interaction and receiving gratification from other things prevented them from becoming addicted until the point of death....


So my own NOFAP journey has been made a hell of alot easier by being in the rat park rather than the rat cage, I.e being alone in my room trying think about anything else other than PMO. Changing the focus to living life rather than enduring this NOFAP test. Try to focus on other things. and slowly start to enjoy life again.

SO lets all try each day to live in our very own rat park, and try to not live in a cage, lonely and isolated.

I am still in the rat cage but I am more like a turtle and like to take my time to go places, right now I am isolated and lonely but I will put myself out there if the opportunity presents itself which was something that I used to dread.

BTW that experiment is the one they did to see what would happen with addicted war veterans when they come back home? If it is I think the rats only drank the cocaine water to socialize which is getting the best of both worlds

 

well i think the rats only really abused the cocaine water when they were alone. not when they were in company of female mates and other rats. which i interpreted to be the same as PMO addiction. If your forever in the cage alone, the situation will never improve. or maybe it will improve but not to its full potential. I also learned that opportunities rarely introduce themselves, they need to be sought out. if you need to chat about why your in the cage, id be happy to discuss my long journey with anxiety, depression and PMO for over 17 years. thanks

 

I agree with you and I think that the abuse only happens when you are alone and has nothing to live for which is my case however I am tackling my problems little by little and it feels like cutting a part of my personality and it is rather umpleasant. Thanks a lot for offering but right now I need to do it alone just so at the end I know I have that changing capacity inside of me. Much love and I hope you stay strong.
