Urges for me arise during late night / early morning, though I've been off porn for quite a while, and have not climaxed in ~2 months; it's the edging that's been getting to me.

I've been trying to kick it for quite a while now... employing some creative means of at least mediating the compulsion a bit (i.e., wearing thick undergarments, sleeping pronated), but because of the fact that I'm so weary during the times of urges, I feel as though I have exhaustible control over myself when they spike. As the urges hit, along with the riveting ignorance of the situation, I just give up on the measures I foisted from the night before and find myself edging from above the undergarments and all.

Any tips for handling urges when you're half asleep?

Whenever you edge, count it as a relapse whether you actually climax or not. Don't have any electronics in your room - if you need your phone for an alarm or whatever put it as far away from your bed as possible. Also, it helps (for me at least) to never go to bed hungry. Hope these help bro, best of luck

I've been doing such for the last few weeks, but I feel as if there's a bit more I can be doing to better improve my odds. Quick intrapersonal question, what does your night time/early morning routine look like?

All you have to do to be free from porn is to be scared of it. You are not scared of porn if you keep relapsing.

You are scared of a lion and wouldn't dare to jump on its enclosure, right? Well, the consequences of porn should scare you off as well:

    Risk of derealisation
risk of being attracted less to women irl
risk of having fucked up thoughts
risk of having PIED ( Porn Induced Erectyle Disfunction )

All these consequences should scare you, that's it.

When the urge comes just distract your attention from it by engaging in some activity. I can not give precise advice on which activity it should be. It could be just any simple game like minesweeper or tetris, or maybe it could be more complicated task like reading or getting new skills. But remember, you should be motivated to do it instead of just escalating. If you do not have any motivation and power, just start to breath very deeply and concentrate your attention on your breathing — temptations will gone. Remember that all urges comes from your mind, so it is better for you to prevent them instead of dealing with them. Just do not even try to peek on bad thoughts. Previous commentator approach on it could help you.

I struggled with very strong urges for some time at around day 70-80 of my current reboot. While I never gave into them, they definitely slowed down my reboot. They always came during the evening or at night, and I would always end up pacing my room waiting for them to leave.

What I realised is that they are purely down to my diet. I was eating what I thought was a low amount of sugar/carbs in the early evening and it was causing me to fantasize and have cravings during the evening. Since cutting down on sugar/caffeine and other artificial stimulants, the cravings have decreased massively, to the point that I can continue my streak, mostly without any issues. Do not get me wrong, I still experience urges, but they are nowhere near as bad as before.

That's a really good way of expressing it. I have to fear the colorless, unfulfilled future that may become my life if I were to give into any urges whatsoever. I may not think this way always, but there's a point where you understand that you absolutely love the way you're going, and would do anything to develop yourself in a certain skill (be it get a little less sleep, or practice so much that nothing else concerns you). In accordance, you would discontinue and/or avoid everything that distances you from the reality that you desperately want for yourself. While techniques do help in the long run - I do appreciate the time given by users in writing earnest advice / things that worked for them - I feel as though being a little dogmatic about how you want to live your life acts as a foundation for your identity, and with that comes the opportunity for greatness. Thanks for your response, very much appreciated.

Hey man, sorry for the late reply. On days I have school, I normally get up around 7, eat breakfast then head to school. After school, I eat something and head to the gym, then come home and study. It's a lot harder to relapse if you're always doing something. I honestly get thoughts about PMO when I'm trying to study, so unless you're doing exam revision that requires a lot of concentration, try study in an open space. Good luck bro

Hey man, try to establish a disciplined nightly routine. Limit or cut out your phone/TV usage. Instead, I like to read as part of my nightly routine. Reading is great for many reasons, especially in rebooting. Also, try to go to bed around the same time every night. Lastly, use your bed ONLY for sleep. When you engage in pmo, your brain remembers the exact place you did it at. Just being in the same area that you relapsed will trigger an urge. This is the role of the chemical DeltaFosB. It's a tricky chemical that is released along with dopamine to further instill the drive of you engaging in that activity.

    TO ADD:
    UNDERSTAND THE dangers in edging:
    https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/reb...masturbate-edge-or-watch-porn-without-orgasm/
UNDERSTAND THE dangers in fantasizing and indulging in sexual thoughts:
    https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/rebooting-porn-use-faqs/what-about-fantasizing-during-a-reboot/
    REMEMBER:
A TOUGH DAY ON NOFAP is 1,000,000 times better THAN FAPPING DAYS.
The more you read them, the more you say this to yourself that, "I am okay with tough days on NoFAP, BUT WILL NEVER ALLOW Fapping", your subconscious tries to understand it and urges will go away.
    Hope this helps
    :)
