Reasons why your streak isn't building

    This thread idea came to be after a really bad second half of febuary. I had an 18 day streak until the 15th of Feb after which none of my streaks have surpassed day 1 without any form of edging, Ming or confusion.

    I've had countless lectures from friends, told my family and even removed most of my social media. Starting nofap was like a stepping stone to self improvement. What my concern is after a few days of motivation, the motivation starts to dim and you start going back to old habits.

    Here are some things you can do to prevent yourself from going back to old habits.

    NO EDGING: this should be any rebooter's first priority. Cut the roads to the bad habit, if you can't reach it you can't do it. For the first week there should be no Psub that could potentially direct you back to porn. Remember, your brain releases the same kind of dopamine when watching porn like it does when having sex. Once the urges start, it's much harder to stop them.
    I strongly suggest not opening instagram for at least two weeks because of the amount of Psubs available ( in the past two weeks, ALL of my 10 relapses were connected to instagram.) you tell yourself it's ok to browse, you have people to talk to on ig. the reality is, you still end up back, scrolling hours through the almost infinite amount of photos available. Remove it for a while and come back after 90 days. Nothing changes on social media, it's been the same for 10 years now.


    Dopamine fasting ; going back to the primitive way of life. Set a target to go atleast 12 to 16 hours without any use of screens. All computers, TV, mobile phones should be put away. I don't really know the science behind it but it felt really good when i had no mobile phones for 24 hours straight.

    Using a habit tracker : there's lots of apps on the phone you can download. it's fun tracking your habit and for me it makes it easier to track my streak. looking again and again on your streak feels good too.



    Please note that these are ways to AID your recovery. do not only pick one and bet your life on it that it will fix you. You still have to follow the convential methods of self improvement; going to a social place like a park, exercising, getting better at socialising, learning how to love and be loved and most importantly being a good human being.
