Reboot restart

New Fapstronaut
Hi all

I tried to reboot back in Feb. made it 3 days, then 5 days. Hell I’ve not made it more than 6 days this year, and generally not more than 24 hours. But this time it’s going to to be different.

I was exposed to porn when I was 11 or 12 and have been PMOing probably daily or more on average for 25 years. I can still get aroused without it but i either need a few days abstinence or something significantly arousing to happen person (or a good dream haha).

Today is day 1 of my 90 day PMO reboot. I’m currently single but dating, though sex while dating is a no for me anyways (beliefs and values). So, I should be able to do this without interruption.

wish me luck; I’ll see you on the other side!

Welcome! My story is similar, started with PMO when I was probably 13, so going on over 30 years now, varying levels of intensity, but at the start of 2020, probably about 5-10 hours of any given week was spent in PMO. You can find a lot of support here. I'd recommend starting a reboot journal so you can chronicle your progress, and follow some other people's logs so you can learn from them and encourage them on their journeys as well. Good luck my brother, I'm cheering you on, you can do this!

Thanks for the reply, brother. I’m already encouraged! I fully empathize with the hours lost to pmo. It’s amazing how that works!

Lately I can go about 3 days before I give in out of boredom/novelty/loneliness/depression.

I will definitely start a log. My short term goal is 7 days no PMO, and keep on going till 90 days with checkpoints along the way. I’m going to have to avoid P-subs and other stimuli aside from human interaction (if real life turns me on, that’s just things working properly). Long term goal is definitely no mire P or P subs and, if I can manage that, no more M.

Exactly! We have natural urges for a reason. Glad to see you have a good perspective on that, as it eliminates the possibility of feeling deep guilt over natural bodily functions.

I started porn at a super young age as well. I grew up in a family-owned liquor store. My brother and I used to sneak porn magazines off the rack. The first one was pure GOLD for us. But then it got old, and we snuck more and more. Ended up with a pretty impressive stash of sexual content that we’d gawk at. At an age when we didn’t much understand what sex even WAS! We were younger than 10 years old at the time!! We had natural urges developing, and had no idea how much damage we were creating in our brains! Fast forward to 32 years of age, I’ve struggled with PIED for many years, and didn’t know what it was until just a couple months ago!

But you know something? Even after nearly a quarter of a century of porn use (just like you), I am on day 31 of noPMO. Let me tell you, it did not take me much time to notice the benefits. Might’ve been around day 15 or so when I looked in mirror and actually felt like a more attractive person. Even though I’ve been a fairly fit and active person all my life, I still notice some weight loss, and an overall “lifting” that seems to be occurring. I really wish I’d taken photos of myself on day 1 for comparison. But either way man, you made the right choice in coming here, and making this change in your life! Good luck to you!

Hi, welcome to the community

I would recommend you to stay in touch with members and read their success stories. You may also learn tricks to avoid the short-term pleasure and to face the temptations.

Be AWARE of your habits and control what you see and what/who you spend your time with.

It's also important to limit the usage of social media. In addition, never be free! Use your free time as much as possible and do sports, exercise, attend classes, etc.

This video contains everything that you need to know about porn addiction. Lastly, here is a collection of ways to deal with the urges which worked great for me.
