    The Situation
I have finally decided to give Rebooting a go for at least 90 days. The problem is, I work in the pornographic software industry. Put simply, on a daily basis, I am expected to view fictional pornography and determine how it should be used and interacted with by our users, while writing explicit material in vivid detail from the role of both the character and the player character to accompany this imagery and render it interactive.

    Symptoms
Frequent masturbation, for me, results with the following observed symptoms: Brain Fog, Anxiety, ED, Lack of Desire/Interest in Others, Desensitization, Trouble Focusing, and Depression

Having ADHD in a software/creative field, the brain fog and difficulty focusing or maintaining interest can be crippling. It's very easy to disappear into a vicious cycle of chasing natural cues.

    Steps Taken
Currently, I use the following tools to manage my addiction or lessen exposure to cues:
    • Exercise
    • Breathing Exercises
    • Showers
    • Strict Social Media Regulation
    • Healthy Eating / Meal Prep

    My Question to You

Going forward, I'm planning on indefinitely suspending any masturbation so I can focus on my career, but I'm worried the exposure my job brings will make this more challenging for me compared to someone else. What are some other tools or strategies I could take in numbing myself to the cues present in my job in a sex positive environment, or staying on track?

My personal piece of advice would be to look for another job. If you have skills in this market you should be able to find another job that could better suit your skills and not force you to watch/read/describe/consume this type of content. You are exposing yourself daily to the dopamine surges one would normally get from looking at porn. And then you are writing it down and categorizing it, you're pretty much embedding this stuff into your brain and it will only get worse. I have no doubt in your ability to maybe slow down your PMO, but if you truly believe this to be an important problem that you wanna take care of, then porn has no place what so ever in your life right now. Its hard enough quitting porn in a normal enviroment. I believe in you brother. You should start watching some philosophy videos on youtube and read some too. That helps me build a character that I wanted to become. Look up Academy of Ideas on youtube. Hope this will be the start of a new beginning for you.

    Hi Moku,

Good luck on your journey to higher mental and physical health - you're gonna do great!

I would personally recommend meditation for what you describe.
