Rebooting

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by kindaproblematic, Apr 29, 2017.

  1. Heyy, so I tried this some months ago and I failed really bad and got off track for few months (because of stress and personal stuff) but I feel like I want to try again now. I was thinking that maybe I'll try one week for starters since I really PMO out of habit. Some tips from succesful ones would be good. Some kind of tips how to start etc.
I think the problem is that I am quite addicted and I rarely have been without PMO even for a week. I don't feel much like I could do this but I really want to do this. My will power isn't really good. So yeah, starting rebooting and asking for tips.

This may seem quite philosophical but I would say to start with some type of goal or with a reason to stop PMO. Non-PMO for the sake of stopping seems empty; it's more than just a need to see how long you can go (not saying this is your goal - merely an example). You have to recognize it as a problem and its impact on your life in some way for you to develop a need to stop. Do you prefer PMO as opposed to sex with your s/o? Are you procrastinating the Hell out of things and missing deadlines? Are incoherent thoughts and/or stuttering making you seem like a babbling imbecile? Do you realize that the need to PMO is ultimately interfering with other, more important aspects of your life? My driver was being attracted to someone who I have no hopes whatsoever of being with intimately for the last time and it being time to find some companionship, among other things. I need a fucking life. PMO doesn't help me to build one, only to impede in this goal. Granted, I've only recently gone 30 days but this is what has helped me to stop.

  3. Thanks for that one and yes I have a reason to stop because PMO reduces motivation and I'm soon starting high school and I just simply can't lack any motivation there. Also I don't feel so much pleasure when I succeed in something that I have seen effort for because I can feel pleasure without effort just by doing PMO. And that is a problem when I need to be motivated about something.

Just remember; do not, I repeat, do not think about abstaining from PMO, that'll often lead to negative, destructive thoughts or/and thoughts about sexually arousing things. Instead, think of what you are doing right now and what you are going to do next. That way you'll be more productive and have an easier time quitting.
    Good luck!:)

I am back too.... I like you, found that personal issues and stress certainly are factors to returning to PMO, but mostly P mostly.... I sometimes feel MO is at times natural and even something the body needs to do from time to time, but P is most certainly a very evil thing to occur to us guys.

Dude did you have any ways of dealing with the stressful aspects of your life??

  6. Thanks for the tip man! I'll keep that in mind

  7. Ways of dealing with stressful aspect in my life... I don't think I had any to be honest

Not sure if setting one week goal is good enough. Most likely even if you can stay week off you will then feel the need to reward yourself after that week.

You need to be decided if you want to get rid of the habit of fapping and watching porn. If you want to get rid of that habit then commit to 90 days of no pmo= porn, masturbation and orgasm.

Some tips: find what triggers you to fap and watch porn, change your daily routine and get more busy if you are not already. Find yourself some productive hobbies instead of fapping and watching porn. Sitting fapping and watching porn on your PC is kind of sad thing.

All in all NoFap is a way to change your life into a better one more productive and happier life. Lastly start a journal and commit to this thing.

Look at porn and fapping as not an option at all.

    yeah, probably :(

  14. A week is sure a short time to start with but I set that for a goal because if I can be a week without PMO then I know that I can be longer times. I know that I can't do 90 days straight off. But thanks a lot for answering and the tips!

  15. Okay so I think I'm going to start a journal here. As I wrote up I'm going to start with a week and go from that to month or so on.

When I started this and my aim was that one week I got 4 days and this morning I relapsed. 4 days doesn't maybe sound much but I can't even remember when I've been so long without PMO. The reason for this relapse is that in the morning I stayed in bed after waking up. Soon I started fantazising and before I knew I was touching myself and that lead to PM but I didn't watch porn. Porn isn't much of a deal to me. But now I know that I could abstain for four days which means that I can do longer periods if I just get up fast and don't start fantazising.
