    Hi all,

    I wanted to share my story of an initial successful switch from prone masturbation to conventional masturbation to give people here some hope, who perhaps like me have been doing prone since a very young age.

    I am 29 years old and started M using prone when I was below 10 years old (i.e. >2 decades ago!!!!!) and up until last Tuesday I have always masturbated prone. Problems like erectile dysfunction had never been a known issue for me because I had a strict upbringing so can't be with a women up until marriage.

    I found this site last year and soon discovered my method was prone and very dangerous! but I had a goal of stopping altogether instead of switching methods. I still think this idea is achievable but very hard.

    After joining here last year I managed to reach over 70 days no PMO within a very short space of time so I didn't bother switching (as I thought I could stop altogether) but found that after that first big streak I could hardly go even 7 days and would always resort to MO using prone.

    Initial attempts to switch
    I initially tried changing methods but found I would lose my erection very easily so I gave up after a few attempts. I was used to reaching orgasm within 5 minutes using prone so after about 20 minutes of the normal method I would get very frustrated . I continued trying to abstain from all MO but kept relapsing and ended up using the prone method.

    I can get turned on very easily with my imagination but find when I am on my back those thoughts are very hard to maintain (so expect this problem). I found even the act of turning onto my stomach would stimulate sexual thoughts immediately ready for me to masturbate via prone.

    I sometimes get awoken at the middle of the night with a huge desire for M and even in these cases I couldn't M without using prone.

    Trying longer abstinence
    Earlier this year I tried a longer abstinence streak (14 days) before trying to switch methods but again I found it hard to hold my erection. The best I could do was hold it long enough for release of pre-cum but no orgasm or ejaculation.

    I am circumcised and another issue I found is that the friction from moving my hand back and forth was causing discomfort in a longer session so had to keep stopping every few minutes.

    I decided at the time to buy lube but then the COVID lockdown happened :(

    I relapsed as normal since then until last Tuesday where I successfully managed to switch.

    The switch
    My last MO session which was prone was 5 days before this, so even after 20 years I didn't have to abstain very long - you can do this too!!!

    Firstly I tried the method for about 20 minutes with no success. I could hold my erection but not finish. So I decided to use a porn substitute (audio) and played content which involved a female voice and nothing related to any of my fetishes (to avoid any issues later on).

    IF YOU ARE USING AUDIO AS A SUB, BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO USE CONTENT THAT INVOLVES HYPNOSIS OR RELATING TO ANY FETISHES AS THAT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS IN REAL RELATIONSHIPS! I have seen many forums to this effects so please avoid this at all costs.

    At first I found I repeatedly released pre cum (clear liquid) so kept having to clean that up as I was working but finally after about 50 minutes of this I managed to reach orgasm and ejaculated cum.

    I did this without gripping very hard at all - I had a very loose grip BUT I was moving my hand up and down quite fast which I think would be hard to imitate during real sex. This is something I hope to work on.

    So to anyone who has been stuck on prone for a long time THERE IS HOPE

    I did find the intensity of the pleasure was very similar to the level I achieved using prone - I would even go as far to say 90% of the pleasure. I didn't expect this as I had read it would be a lot less. I also observed the quantity of the cum was a lot more than when I masturbated prone.

    After a short break I tried to go again but the second time took much longer - almost 1.5 hours and again I had to use the P-Sub.

    I then left it another day before going again and this time trying without the p-sub. However, I found I could not push myself to ejaculate, only release pre-cum. I then used the p-sub again and ejaculated. It took about 10 minutes less than the time before (40 minutes in total with 20 minutes using the P-Sub).

    Advice for switching
    > Lube is not absolutely necessary to achieve this but I think it would help.

    > I committed to never watching porn again so I didn't resort to actual porn to stimulate myself but you will likely need something that turns you on for the first session (please don't resort to porn itself or any type of audio porn that involves hypnosis). If you are in a relationship hopefully your partner will be able to help you here. If your not, I would advise a p-sub as the lesser of the 2 evils and then aim to eliminate it as soon as possible.

    > I found the top 'helmet' of my penis was the most sensitive part - at the time I reached orgasm I was griping only the top half of my penis but this may vary per person. I assume sensitivity will return to all parts after a prolonged period of not doing prone but given my case I will not expect a full recovery after only 1 month as suggested on the healthy strokes website.

    Moving forward
    > I have committed to never masturbating prone ever again. Also, as it takes a long time to M normally I find I am put off M on occasions where I would normally as I don't have enough time.
    > I will try and wean myself off the p-sub, hopefully this won't be too difficult!!!!
    > I will try and slow down the pace of my hand so that it can be slow enough to imitate a real scenario and continue to avoid gripping harder.

    I am very aware of my original objective of stopping PMO altogether - this switching method is just a means to stop this self harm I am doing by prone. Once I can do that I will refocus on stopping altogether.

    Very good post! My story is very similar. I am 26 and have never masturbated differently than prone.
    I also tried switching and after 7days+ tried the classic way and was impossible to reach orgasm even after 30mins+. It was very tiring and didnt enjoy it.
    Just like you said, the prone way I can finish very fast and its super easy.

    I also reached 30+day streak and since then I struggle to avoid MO for 7days.
    Exactly like you, I have no problem with porn -> clean since april.
    But my imagination is the issue ->its like my personal porn site :D

    My plan is to reach 7days no prone masturbation and then if needed try "normal way" but the end goal is to quit for good -> my fantasies are pretty fucked up. I need some twisted shit to be thinking about so I can finish fast.

I'd also like to say, I respect your opposing advice to lay off the porn, it is something that may not be necessary for some but for others it can be the breakthrough that they need to learn the conventional way. Of course everyone is different and if people can do it without the porn, then i guess its 2 birds, 1 stone. All the best bro.

    I managed to finish today without a p-sub which is a big relief as I was worried I had become reliant on it. I found music helped which I have never used before.

    Still took about 40 minutes and I moved my hand quite fast again so need to find a way of slowing down. The problem is when I slow the movement I find it hard to maintain the erection.

    Nice and educating post. But please does anyone here has an idea on out of the options "a" or "b" below which one is the best in recovering for a prone mustabation addict ?
    (A) stopping porn, mustabation and orgasm all together forever
    (B) switching from prone mustabation to conventional and then stopping all together forever.
    Your response will be very much helpful and appreciated.
     
  7. In my opinion, its clearly B) as it is offers a more long term solution and has some sexual benefits. Be honest with yourself, do you really think you will never masturbate again in your life? I support NoFap and Semen Retention but it is likely that we will relapse from time to time. So, the main problem is that, If you haven't learn the conventional method, then you are likely to resort back to prone when you relapse, which then ruins all your progress you made on 'Option A)'. Also, the conventional method helps with feeling pleasure from hand jobs and having the ability to pull out and cum on your girl during sex.

    This however is my opinion, different people will have different opinions and there is not necessarily a right or wrong answer!

    Just a quick update on the journey. I managed to cut the time down to 20 minutes on one of the days without any psubs or even anything like music but on other days it still takes over 40 minutes and requires a psub. It's also very difficult to go more than once in the same day, I guess this is because of my bad habit for all those years. Also finding it difficult to slow my hand down but still maintain the loose grip so I guess that's something.

    Also worth noting I am now a few weeks into this and I still get strong urges to go prone. I am not sure if they will ever disappear but I can resist easier as I know I can release via the normal method so thus far I have managed to hold off.

    Currently I'm on Day 9 of nofap after my longest streak of 52 days I also didn't started masturbating the conventional way I started doing prone masturbating instead which is 10×times worse than fapping the normal way as it desentstize your p*nis badly I took a break from it and started masturbating the conventional way and then started my NoFap it's been a year since then rn im doing semen retention the last time I relpassd by prone masturbation also I've been edging by prone too I feel that overcoming prone masturbation is more harder that the normal way because it feels so damn good and also it doesn't requires any effort like if I'm watching a movie or just using my phone in bed or just texting some random girl I am faced down in bed and I start thrusting my dick in the mattress subconsciously and every time I do that there's always pre cum I always try not to use my bed for anyhting else except sleeping but i fail to do that,

    this whole thread was an eye opener for me. I thought I discovered "prone masturbation" because I was doing it since 2003 :D I have done it consistently during my high school. It was like every Saturday bonanza. I thought it was called beg humping. anyway...prone masturbation is very addictive. I used to imagine celebrities and people from my life while I was prone masturbating. I never lie facedown because I know i will thrust my penis on the mattress and beging prone masturbation. I try to avoid lying facedown at all costs.

    Guys....if you are trying to quit PMO....quit PMO cold trukey. I don't believe doing MO will help. Because it will eventually lead to PMO. we have associated orgasm with PMO, so any MO will eventually lead to PMO. Well, i would like for people who have done 90 days or more to voice their opinion on this particular topic...

    bro.i would also remind you that in order to make a post here, the minimum criteria is to reach 30 days without PMO. i believe you have 10 more days to go. Thats the policy here, in case if you are not aware. May be this thread can be moved in some other section.

    I recently shifted from prone to the normal way. Even though I can mo the normal way now, I'm losing erections even if I take a small break. Is it normal during this transition? how long will it take for the issue to get resolved?

    My friend, I'll suggest you should just quite mustabation at all bein it prone or conventional if you can. I don't see any idea behind switching from one harmful habit to another. Just quite and allow your body and brain to undergo its full rebooting process so that the issue can be resolve once and for all.

    Just a quick update on the journey. I am now coming up to 50 days without prone and the urges are still just as strong as day 1 but I managed to resist despite extreme urges somedays because I can release via the normal method.

    I can more consistently get it down to 15-20 mins now without any other stimulus but there are still some days where it takes about an hour and on a handful of occasions I have had to use audio porn. I have noticed a slight more sensitivity in my penis too and hopefully if I can stop MO altogether this would recover completely.

    I have managed to slow the speed down a little but it still seems quite fast to me but still maintaining a very loose grip so hopefully will be ok in the future.

    Now looking to stopping for a prolonged period starting. I managed 7 days so trying to go longer.

    Hello guys im glad i found this forum I have been prone masturbating since 12 or so years of age and now i am 44. What someone said further back my life also feels ruined i have never had a proper relationship and failed at attaining erection during sex whenever i have so at age 30 i gave up looking for relationships. up untill last week i was a chronic prone position maturbator every day but then i found these articles relating to the emotional and maybe even physical damage which may be caused. throught my life i have had pain in the shaft of my penis and i believe this to be from the prone position but until finding these articles i felt it was normal. I do not know if this will be possible but i intend on quiting watching porn altogether and stopping masturbation for the foreseeable future in the hope that some sensitivity and a normal erection may be restored.     I am a 21 year old male. I have done prone masturbation since I was 12. Recently, I decided to quit prone. I stopped all sexual activities for a week. After a week i tried the conventional method and was able to masturbate in 45 minutes. I was able to masturbate the next 2 days as well within 40 minutes. On the third day, I tried masturbating twice and I wasn't able to the second time. I tried to masturbate the next day as well but wasnt able to. What should I do?

    Hello guys,

    I did also PM whole my life. I am now 31 and try to quit it. My sexologe said that i should change the position of the penis to the tradinional position very slowly and i should use my hand always. But practically it is very very hard to carry out. At PM we use a pressure on the penis and at the tradinional position and a normal sex we can not get that pressure thats why we fail.
    Is there anyone here who could overcome this habit or do you know somebody who could get rid of this PM habit?
