Reset Brain after touching/triggering myself?

    Hello,

    I am currently able to do 5 days streaks(may include edging...) fairly regularly, but find myself relapsing on the weekend frequently. I've noticed that once I start touching myself, its pretty much all down hill from the there. However, I typically hold out a few days if this happens during the week by using p-subs to pretend I'm not relapsing. Once the weekend hits, I fully relapse.

    The interesting part to me is, I could tell you on a Thursday that I am going to relapse on Saturday morning and that I have today (Thursday in this example) and Friday to get back on track or I will relapse. Inevitably, I continue down the path of edging/peaking until I relapse.

    My question is this: is there a way to reset my brain after I have triggered myself? I am obviously aware that I going to relapse, but cant seem to clear my mind and get back to NoFap. I believe this is sometimes referred to as tunnel vision.

    I was thinking maybe cold showers would help? Any other recommendations?

    Don't edge!!! Trust me!!!
    After you are triggered, you can do a replacement activity like exercise or cold showers.
    Try to avoid your triggers.

    Do you have a regular weekday job? Or are you studying, or going to school, with classes during the week ?

    If yes, then PMO is related to your self-organisation.

    If you have a job or study, then you have a schedule from outside.
    Once you are in the weekend, the "schedule" comes from your inside. But your schedule is too blurry, and so you relapse.

    "Resetting" means that dopamine levels go back to a balanced state.
    That takes some while. Your brain is a bio computer, it works slower than a silicone computer.

    I recommend to do a pretty good workout, or go hiking, etc, and then sleep enough.

    Yes, I have a 9-5. I think, in part, you are right. However, I do occasionally relapse during the week, I just often find myself using psubs instead. The problem is that on Sat/Sunday morning, I have 3-4 hours of time where I am alone and have nothing I need to do. I need to just get up and out of my room...

    I do workout x3 a week and get 8 hours of sleep almost every night. The rest of my life is really pretty disciplined, I just havent been able to kick PMO.

    Thank you all for the advice. Cold showers it is. And you have also helped remind me just to get out of my relapse environment. Get up and out.
