Hi, just wanted to chime in and say how much I enjoyed these posts. I'm an avid runner too, and I've been trying to squash my urge to sext by lacing up my sneakers instead. Not taking my phone, running away from it for an hour or so. It does help.

Not only does the physical exercise give me a great rush but it also helps me remember that I need to take care of myself on the inside too. Running is my meditation, my release.

This is inspirational, thanks to everyone who shared.

  2. good work bro, I will have to try that next time I am on a run, I have a doctors appointment for an injury this week, hoping to get the green light and start training again, got to be careful though as I am a bit wreckless with myself and over do things and get injured again.

I usually do about 20-25 miles a week. I've also had injuries that I've had to work through, so I can commiserate. I run by myself. In fact, every time I've tried training for a half-marathon or any sort of race I end up hurting myself. So now my biggest competitor is myself!

Hope you get good results from the doctor.

Can't really say, I don't really consider myself a runner, running is just something I do. Used to run as a kid because my parents used to get my out of their hair by telling me to go out for a run. Have picked it up every so often since then just to ensure I stay in some semblance of shape. Used to run quite a bit in my late teens, slacked off when I went to University and after the army. Had effectively given up until a few years ago when my sister encouraged my to join a 7k fun run and I realised I couldn't run 2ks without feeling winded. Picked up since then, ran my first half marathon last year and have finally achieved regularity from the start of this year through the running group, chalking up another couple of half marathons along the way and targeting an ultra in November. Still don't consider myself a runner though.

  6. How are we getting on runners? Running that demon out and away?
Anyone else find that sometimes it can have the reverse effect and it gives you unwanted sexual energy?

  7. Achillies has been causing me grief all year and it's more of the same with specialist who just say change footwear and strengthen and stretch so that's what I'm doing but it's hard to keep it up, I did manage 10 miles this morning though slow but pain free, I understand what you are going through mayb it's just a case of running through the pain, I am a bit of a drama queen so mayb I just need to keep on pushing on, how's your running/ niggles getting on?

Cool! I've been ramping up my miles a bit. Got 6 miles in this morning with no problem! I'm in a Fitbit challenge (war!) with a friend so that keeps me moving.

Having a background from top-level sports I like training a lot. The PMO has kept me from having any continuity in the training but now as I'm going to get out of this bad habit I'm going to start training again. For the most strength and running. I really love running as it gives me this feeling of being free. But as the winter and snow is coming I don't think there will be more than 2-3 runs a week. I'll probably be at the gym this winter. That being said. I had a nice hour run in some light snow today and felt great afterwards.

I've been running for a long time >15 years from 5ks to marathons- triathlons too. During a reboot last year (I wasn't on nofap at that time, I just quit PMO cold turkey for like 3 months), I ran my fastest half marathon. I definitely feel so much faster when I stay free from PMO- a huge reason for me coming to nofap!

  14. 10 miles on Friday and 9 miles yesterday all at a very slow pace and my whole weekend in comparison to the weekend before was 10 times better, I did have a few flashes of PMO urges but I managed to keep the demon at bay, I plan on doing some gym work to strengthen my achillies during the week before work, then on Friday and Sunday increase the millage slightly, I've registered for a 31 mile ultra in march so must be disaplined, I've run 3 marathons and won alot of races at club level at shorter distances so need a new challange that's for endurance not speed as legs can't cope with stress from it. Happy running people.

Awesome! Ultras are too much for me- 26.2 is my limit! I was training for Chicago this fall, running really fast and feeling like I could go sub 3, and then I got a stress fracture 3 weeks out! I'm doing aggressive PT to work on mechanics and strengthening.

One hour run in winter landscape today. Felt really good both during the run and afterwards.
I've been thinking about trying to run a marathon next year but only if I'm sure to run sub 3. Thats not the case now but if I can keep it going through the winter and spring I might get the necessary shape.

  17. Have you run any marathons?, I've ran 3 and in need for new challange.

  18. Have you run any marathons? Sub 3 is not easy I've run 3 my last was 3 08, I think when setting a goal as far as a marathon is concerned is be realistic and kind on yourself, firstly number one is finish it, secondly have a kind time then thirdly a dream time.

I have never run a marathon but I'm used to endurance sports. Used to train like 20 hours a week when I was 16-22. Most of the races I've run has been between 3-10k. My personal best on 5k is 16:15 so I have decent speed and my real advantage is the endurance. I'm not going for a marathon without having a decent chance to do sub 3. Thats just my take on it. I'm in my best years so if I'm ever going to run that fast it should be now.

But as you say: having multiple and realistic goals is healthy. Now I'm just focusing on getting healthy from PMO and starting to live life. That won't depend on if I run a marathon or not this summer, but it is a nice goal to have and something to motivate me for the training which is a big element in my transformation.

Had a hour run today too. Rest day from running tomorrow as I'm going to the gym instead.

    Keep on running :)
