Seriously doubting if nofap is a good thing to do

So i've known nofap since last summer, and i've had periods where i was very serious about it, and periods where i became more relaxed and loose about it. Now i'm at a point where i really don't know if its worth all the struggle. Because what happens every freakin time when i do nofap, is that i get these crazy insomnia nights where i have so much sexual energy that i feel it in my body and i just want to sleep real bad, but everytime i lay in bed without distraction its impossible to not think about porn, so the urges keep me awake for the whole night. When it is like 6 morning i extremely shitty and i don't have the willpower or motivation to do anything. There was a time when i was serious about nofap where i would get very paranoid about this. Every night i went to bed without knowing if i was gonna get a good night rest or if i would be kept awake the whole night. And i know what you all want to say now: in the end the benefits are worth struggling for. But i don't know if the benefits are so great that i have to give up my sleep for it so many times. I've read about what sleep deprivation does to a person, and its really damaging. I haven't even mentioned that i'm in college, which means i have very much work to do almost everyday. And i can try all what i want, but after a devastating night of urges, i really can't focus on homework. This is why it feels impossible to combine nofap with everyday life. But on the other hand, i start to feel recently that my motivation for things is slowly decreasing since i'm not that much into nofap. Like things feel less 'special' or something than like 2 months ago, when i was more serious about nofap. Its such a dillema, i dont want to f*ck my life up by PMOing too often, but i also dont want to f*ck it up by sleep deprivation. Currently as im writing this, its 4 am and im up because of urges. What's shitty as well is the fact that either option feels wrong. It feels wrong to MO or PMO in order to fall asleep, but it also feels wrong to be awake the whole night, because i know that means that i probably can't be really productive tommorow. So if anyone has some arguments for nofap or tips to combat these insomnia nights which occur too often for me (im only on day 2 now and it already happens), that would be nice.

The answer here is surprisingly simple. The problem is you are an addict who is going through withdrawal symptoms. This is going to happen when quitting an addiction. Insomnia is a very common withdrawal symptom and should pass with time away from PMO. Im sure you know now that the only way to get back to a normal life is to go through the withdrawals

Your thoughts on porn keep you all night long awake, not NoFap.

It's not impossible. If you relapse, I give you SECONDS to realize how you messed up and NoFap is worth it. It's like a cloud goes away and you suddenly see what you have done and you feel, shitty, real shitty, for betraying yourself over an invalid argument.

Most of what you wrote seems the wolf talking.

It is just another tactic that your brain is employing to try to make you relapse... keep fighting, it WILL pass.

When does the insomnia usually go away? When did it go away with you?

"Monk mode" or even "Hard mode" work very well for some, maybe less for others.

If you have to quit Nofap OR pick a "less than optimal Nofap", which one would you want to embrace?

I, too have similar issues but I can fix the insomnia portion by No Porn, No artificial stimulation masturbation, once a week or every 3 days.
It's not optimal. It's not hard mode, it's not going to fix you the quickest, but it helps a lot to "vent out steam".

If possible, you should do it without thinking about anything at all. Just feel your wily in your hands and let it talk, keep your mind blank.

If you really need to imagine something, I hope you had a girlfriend in the past. I know how a naked, nice girlfriend looks and feels like, so I don't have to resort to porn or other brain addiction stuff. I just imagine her and she's totally natural and healthy.
That way, I am still going to take longer than Hard Mode, but the journey is going to be sweet!

Thank you guys that video was very neat. I feel much better now enjoying what I love like football and call of duty without feeling hazy or feeling angry at myself.

Insomnia is a bi... but you just have to hold on. It gets better over time. It took me months to start see some improvements of insomnia/oversleeping and I'm still not where I want to be with my sleep habits, but it's way better than 9 months ago, when I didn't sleep for days sometimes.

Here are some tips to help you get over it:

    4. SLEEP is the bedrock of your recovery!!!
Insomnia is part of early recovery.
You need to get 7-9 hours of sleep per night. If you're not getting enough sleep there's all sorts of hormone imbalances happen: cortisol rising, spikes in insulin levels (diabetes), anxiety, depression, leptin unbalance (weight gain), early aging, immune system problems, inflammation, human growth hormone down...

Tech detox/taper: Blue light from electronic devices disturbs melatonin production

    1) experiment: 4 hours before bed no electronic devices
    2) go to and out of bed the same hour every day
    3) your bedroom should be pretty cold (around 16C) and totally dark if possible

You are feeling the effects of Delta FosB. Until you do a long hardmode streak, the deep fangs of Delta FosB will be deep in you like the fangs of a snake.

Time line for long term addicts looks more like this unfortunately -> May 24, 2019 May 23, 2019
I needed 6 months of monk mode to notice some improvements and things are still improving 9 months down the road.
With that being said Swagnation is 18 yo, I've been seriously addicted longer than he's alive, so he might be fully rebooted after just 3 months of abstention.

The theory behind nofap is that it reduces delta-fosb after 90 days of abstenation. The cause of any behavioural addiction is anxiety and depression so it might be better tackling the anxiety first.

    Yes insomnia sucks.
    I still suffer from it.
It kicks in around 3am every morning .
    Tonight i woke up.1.3am
It is the worst thing about the whole process.
I think it is worth the inconvenience .
