Seroquel and loss of interest plus absence of morning wood

Hello lads,

I don't know which category to put this thread in. So admins, move it somewhere suitable if it is off topic.

getting to the point now,

I would like to ask your opinion on Seroquel INSTANT release 25mg during a reboot. I was prescribed it to help me sleep, but the side effects are horrible. Morning wood is not here anymore, but i can still fap rock solid if i want to. The problem is, i don't want to. Neither i want to watch porn. Also, my teeth hurt big time and my blood pressure hits the floor when i try to walk or stand up. My PDOC told me to take it only if it suits me. If i cant cope with it, i am free to stop it. So what do you guys think i should do? I'm afraid that if i continue, i might do a successful reboot, but if i get together with a gal, i might not function. This is the second time i take seroquel. The first time i really needed it, i was in mania. I am Bipolar.

Any view and opinion will be greatly appreciated.

Were you prescribed that only or with other meds as well? That class of meds is sometimes prescribed along with ssris and its the ssris that tank your libido.

Anyway, i think the blood pressure drop is the most concerning aspect and you should take that at your doc.

You should also not interrupt these meds abruptly unless there is a very concerning side effect.

Also this type of med is not prescribed just for sleep but for an overall state of unrest, among others.

I also take lamictal 200mg, lexapro 20mg and wellbutrin extended release 150mg. Seroquel was added 3 days ago for sleep+irritability+aggressiveness . The other meds are the main meds and have been for years without a single problem regarding libido and erection. 2 days after i started Seroquel, problems began manifesting. I have taken seroquel XR without any side effects at all, and actually increased my interest in girls. I might switch to XR, or see if the current side effects subside. Sure thing is i need it for the next 2 months cause i was on my way to hypomania. Hypomania usually happens to me during stressful periods, its like a defense mechanism (euphoria and energy or anger to battle anxiety and frustration).

Tbh that's quite the package of meds, but then again your doctor knows the situation better. I am personally a bit surprised by the overlap of two ssris, this is quite uncommon and i would expect those to generate sleep problems and irritability. I would've expected he reduced the dosage on ssri rather than introduce another med when you complained about sleep problems and irritability. Again that would be a general practice, i don't know your particular situation.
 
Wellbutrin is NOT ssri. It has to do with dopamine mainly and a bit norepinephrine. Because when serotonin is high dopamine is low. With the other 3 meds, i have absolutely no problems at all. I take them all in the morning and i'm good to go and focus on my work etc
 
I meant that is has a very similar action to ssris, even if it's mechanism is different. All types of antidepressants can and will likely result in anxiety because they are essentially stimulants.
 
You might be right. I switched to seroquel XR two hours before bed on empty stomach and i slept like a baby and woke up clear-headed without toothache and no problems with blood pressure. I just had to drink more coffee than usual to wake up (no prob, i love coffee). So, i stopped wellbutrin and in a month or 2 i will reduce lexparo to 10mg. After the summer i will be left with only Lamictal 200mg (which i will take for life) to keep me balanced.

Dude, do not stop meds like that and do not stop meds without talking to the doctor first, that is not healthy.

It was just a suggestion i thought you could take to your doc and take it from there.

You should also not be drinking coffee.

Everything i do is after communication with my doctor. He has already said that i might have to stop all antidepressants but not yet and not cold turkey. I'm very stable now. To be honest put me off welbutrin because it was doing very little. Just appetite suppression and focus. No big deal.
By the way, with the XR version of seroquel, morning wood and libido are back
