I know the obvious answer to this is simply "you need to quit," but I'm trying to understand the chemical reaction occurring here to better understand my physiology as a whole.

Been addicted for about 25 years, PMO with edging to O for at least 10-15 years of that. For most if not all men, PMO relaxes them and helps them sleep, and for a long time, that was me. But over the last few years, it transitioned from being sleepy to severe insomnia if done in the evening. I can take my prescription sleep drugs, melatonin, other OTC sleep meds, and nothing works...I'm awake until at least sunrise, if not later. I'm an otherwise healthy, fit male, with no substance, alcohol, or other addictions.

    Anyone else like this?

I don't know the science behind it but the same happens to me, it feels like my brain is completely scrambled and can't shut down. Even just looking at porn leaves me feeling buzzed. I don't think you need to know exactly what's going on though, even science doesn't know. Whatever it is, isn't good.

It doesn’t happen to me if I just look at it, only if MO.

I met the same problem too. It takes me nearly two months to recover. I think the best way is to let the time heal. But there are several tips I believe can be helpful. First is running. Run the hell out of you until you are too tired to stay awake. Second is meditation before you sleep or listen to hypnosis videos on Youtube.

Relatable. I'm not sure why though.

I have simple answer for you guys, might get more in depth tomorrow, just saw this post before going to sleep

But it's essentially a deregulation of serotonin that is the precursor of melatonin.

PMO does not only fuck up dopamine, that's kind of the tip of the iceberg.

Take 10mg of melatonin for 2 weeks to re-regulate your circadian rhythms. This melatonin will help to create the serotonin you need for a healthier regulation
