Hi all! I hope you're all well :)

My porn addiction went a while ago (I realised it was a problem and dealt with it).

However i switched to sexting, which personally was just as powerful, just the same as a porn addiction i found myself sexting then having to come home from work to relieve myself.

Does anyone else have this?? Do we all agree it's basically the same?

So, I went 9 days by avoiding my triggers and felt great, then had a relapse. Doh!

If anyone else has this sexting addiction then it would be good to hear from you.

    Cheers :)

I went from porn to chat and sexting. For me it had the same addictive qualities. It was also very novel because of the interactive and unpredictable part of other people.

It really interfered with my life because I was constantly distracted and sneaking every chance I could get. The double life was insanely crazy. I mistakenly thought it was so exciting and thrilling, but it just led me to isolate more and more to get a cheap thrill while letting real work, passions and relationships suffer.

Good for you to address it. It has the same destructive aspects and also pulls in and damages other people directly.

After focusing on it, I was gratefully able to get past it. One tip is I had to stop ALL texting and chat that wasn't 100% for work or my real relationships or recovery friends. Any kind of even slight flirting immediately led me back into it. Good luck and take care.

Yes, sexting and phone sex are not good substitutes for porn. I've done both on my last sequence of relapses. It all has to end now. No fantasizing of any kind, period.

Have you stopped masturbating? That doesn't help us at all either.

I'd urge you to drop such language. It's not respectful and it won't help you treat women with the respect they deserve. Women want sex as much as men do and some act upon those urges, that doesn't make them sluts, that makes them either very active or very sick (like us)

    Hi Mark,

Im really glad you agree that it is essentially the same. I actually find that "sexting" has taken over from porn. I think it is the interaction and the male urge to get a woman horny!

I have deleted a lot of numbers from my phone! and have come off all internet sites (apart from facebook which is purely friends).

For me, its easy to stay away from porn... but not so easy to stop sexting... that says something in itself hey!

    Cheers for the support

    Paul

I wouldn't say they are random sluts, they are women i know (sometimes). It is the urge to get them to send pics and get them horny that is giving me the sexual thrill, It is just as damaging as porn.

  8. This doesn't make sense. You assert, "My porn addiction went a while ago... However i switched to sexting". All I can assume is that you rationalised it was different somehow. That was self-deception and wishful thinking! I have news for you - your porn addiction never went anywhere! Don't take my word for it, check it out in your own dictionary. This one says:

    Pornography http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/pornography

    noun

    1. writings, pictures, films, etc, designed to stimulate sexual excitement
    2. the production of such material

I know that anything that arouses me is a problem. I only accept arousal in the moments before actual sexual intercourse. If I purposely feed sexual arousal in any form I consider that to be failing. I know I can't flirt with this stuff in any way. I got to keep the guard up 24/7.

Ok... my "porn" addiction mutated. I'm totally aware the addiction is the same... however It's not nice to categorize real females as porn now is it. lol
