  2. Well yeah, I personally didn't like it, but it is a great movie. There were some great memorable scenes, like the scene where he buys guns. Other than that, it didn't tickle my fancy.

  3. Samuel l Jackson wasn't in reservoir dogs

  4. My bad, I meant Pulp Fiction. I think he auditioned for the movie though, and later got the role for Pulp Fiction. Not sure though.

Most horror movies are lame. Suspense =/= horror.

    Babadook was blah
    Conjuring... blech
Donnie Darko was more of a horror movie than those and it’s not even horror
The Descent actually hits the horror theme, as does Cloverfield (even though I hate how it was shot)

Horror, to me, is the message “everything will not be okay.” The typical happy Hollywood endings miss that mark.

  17. How do you feel about Insidious? Silent Hill? Those are probably the two scariest horror movies, for me.

Yeah, of course, everyone has a different standard for horror and what will get to them. Perhaps I could change my statement above to “these horror movies are lame to me..”

Anyways, hmm.. I’ve never seen Insidious.

Silent Hill, oh man. This is a weird one to share, hold onto your hat. The movie wasn’t scary at all to me, but the reasons why are unusual and unique.

To begin with, I’ve played the games and the games are way better than the movie at creating the atmosphere and telling the darker tale. Even though the movie didn’t scare me, the ending was still darkish and thus rates higher on my horror meter. The ending was tame though, and even though some unusual things happened in the movie, the ending didn’t delve very deep into darkness. There was little in it that was personal to the development of the main characters and so the impact was skin deep.

Now the weird part. At times, I’ve entered into trances. It’s kind of like walking into a different world, being in a dream that you see with your physical eyes. One of these trances put me in a world that was very much like Silent Hill. Rust and deprecation were everywhere, I was surrounded by a physical and oppressive gloom. Fog hung in the air concealing some malicious evil. So, instead of a dream, I was walking through a living breathing nightmare. There is so much more I could say about this...but, the important thing is that through it all, I held my peace as I faced that darkness.

So, a Silent Hill movie does not scare me whatsoever. It’s like a McDonald’s kids happy meal after living through that. Nom nom nom :emoji_yum:
