Shit be nothing but a placebo

I fapped yesterday three times, today I just told myself I would be more confident... I had no social anxiety, I joked around with people, I chatted to girls kept eye contact...

I even fapped in the office when everyone went home lol.

Which leads me to believe this ain't nothing but a placebo effect. Actually, I'm confused, I don't know if 43 days of abstinence has reprogrammed my mind somewhat. What are your thoughts.

You are far from being reset, and it can go up and down. This is no placebo. Believe me.

Social suicide isn't the only effect of PMO, y'know. The real problem is when you start to think it was a placebo - that will make you PMO even more, and only then you will see the effects of the addiction kicking in again.

I worry the same thing. From my short experience I think it's more than placebo. It is giving me feelings of happiness and connectedness to people that was missing when I was PMOing daily. I'll be in for the long haul so I guess time will tell.

Don't trick yourself into believing that it's placebo when it's clearly not.

I think the "miraculous superpowers" masturbational abstinence gives tend to be exaggerated. I also do not experience any mood/anxiety swings resulting from masturbation. But it has a different, moral-based impact on me - it simply makes me feel like a worthless shit. For obvious reasons.

Maybe it is just a placebo that I think fapping has no side effects (and thus is another placebo effect.)

Actually, I have no idea, during my 43 days of abstinence I had unstoppable confidence to suicidal depression. Same when I was fapping, for whatever reason after the 43 day period my anxiety has been almost non existent when I purely choose it NOT to be an issue... Like I said I don't know if this is to do with the cumulative days nofap I did prior.

Something has changed, nofap has changed and positively affected something somewhere I think.

    Thanks guys.

Your experience is very common. It is going rollercoaster-style for me as well. And for many others, remember that the process is not linear. There will be days when you feel confident, perhaps even cured. But then there will be days when you feel melancholic and anxious.

Remember, during your depressive days, you can make things bigger than they actually are. Do not think about life problems when you are depressed. Do it when you are happy and feeling good, because then it will be much more rational.

Remember, that in times of depression you will view suicide as something rational but it's never rational. It's a little "sick" to think those ways, and I must say once again; do not reflect upon life during your low moments. Because you will be unable to see what is good. Life is good in itself, and if you feel dissatisfaction with yourself, eat well, exercise, abstain from PMO completely and improve yourself. You can always improve, you can always be a better man and it's never too late to change, if you really want!

When I first quit, I witnessed the "superpowers" first hand, but I agree, after a couple months of NoFap those superpowers diminished greatly. I think the first couple weeks of NoFap were a withdrawal period for me. Now I'm just trying to maintain the longevity of my decision, and not fall down again.

It's not possible to prove a negative. In other words we'll never know what our lives would have been if we had continued our current path.

I agree. I thought for some time it might be a placebo effect as well, but I became convinced that it is totally not; the longer I stayed abstinent, the more I became aware of the obvious. Sex and lust are bad and unhealthy.

  16. No, no, no !!
Sex is the greatest experience on earth, but you need to approach it the right way!!

Sex should not be centered around an "orgasm" - it is much more ! It is a kind of comunicatin, giving pleasure to each other, you should feel refreshed and confident afterwards!

And there should not be any other emotions involved, than the actual enjoyment. But if you have sex in order to escape from important decisions, or to "overpower" your girl, or in order to cover up your insecurities, then, in fact, then sex is bad and unhealthy.

What do you mean by this? There are tons of other emotions involved with sex. Love, trust, commitment, security. Sex is a bonding experience between two people. It brings them closer together, moulding into one being. It is the height of intimacy.
