Hi who ever is reading this,
I am new to NoFap and am trying to start a no PMO 90 day challenge. I know it will be difficult but for the sake of my marriage and my family I want to try this cold turkey.
I have never tried anything like this before. Until very recently, I had never admitted that I had a problem. I was hoping to get some advice from some more experienced Fapstronauts to help me along this journey.
I am really not sure what to do with my smart phone, although this has not been my only device used for porn it has most certainly been the most used and the one most easily accessed. Should I rid my self of the device entirely or would that perhaps make things worse is the long run should I ever get a smart phone again. Any other tips you have are welcome and very much appreciated.

My husband gave me his smartphone and got himself a flip phone. He says that being "unplugged" from the internet has helped him tremendously.

@Sadgirl Thanks. It seemed to make sense to me but there seems to be so many others with experience that I thought I would ask.

  4. I still use my phone (obviously) for email, Facebook and Internet like on this site. Most people seem to say it helps them either getting rid of their phone, changing to a flip phone, or putting a lock on apps with a password and stuff like that.

What I did was setup my modem/router to filter all IP addresses to go though a porn blocker DNS filter, and then my SO made his own password to the router so I can't change or check anything. Works great for me and have no complaints. Everyone has their own way of dealing with the addiction especially in the beginning but you shouldn't have to avoid using a smartphone forever, that would mean you're still struggling with it years later.

I only try to get rid of my pornographic fantasies, and when do so, staying away from porn sites is easy. It may be different for you, but I'd recommend first trying to change your mindset, and then, if it doesn't help, try external things.

  7. I got rid of my smart phone, although I have an iPad at home for internet tasks. I’ve just got a dumb phone now. It’s hard to get used to initially but once you do it’s so good! Only texts and calls. And the battery lasts for a week!

This has helped me: I still have my smartphone but I’ve made sure my mobile provider has the adult filter feature enabled (which I promptly disable when first getting a phone) but that required some effort which required verification etc. But then you would have the WiFi side that would still allow you to access so you could try Sarah Walkers method with the router or internet provider settings. What I found was triggers from pictures I see in apps I used to use. One was Instagram, following a lot of these fit athletes, seeing so many pictures of their bodies was nice but I realise it would startle me and kick off the whole process. Since uninstalling these apps there’s has been less triggers, apart from real life when I’m at the gym where I just try to focus on my workout and not let my eyes wander haha. Hope this helps!

Get one of those cheap phones which dont have touch screen and make calls and texts only. That way you can be free from the internet but still stay in contact for work and personal purposes. Help this help friend, I believe in you.
