Should I lower my goals if I'm struggling?

I have been struggling to reach the 90-day mark (monk mode) for a couple of years or so.

Granted I was able to reach 80 days clean when I most took it seriously and the circumstances helped (Including getting a new desired job and staying busy). Those were the happiest days of my recent history if you will.

On the other hand and needless to say, I have failed many times. So, should I kinda lower my goals and stick to achieving 30 days or so first, then probably masturbating as some kind of a release and watching out for the chaser effect afterwards? Porn is not an option for sure. Not deliberately at all at least. And then target 60 days and so forth. Or should I just stick to the original 90-day plan to kinda finally pull it off ASAP and hopefully making the most out of a flat line ASAP.

    What do you guys think?

Hey Muhammad. How is your social life? I wouldn't recommend lowering your goal since you've reached the 80 day marker before. Generally speaking I wouldn't focus on the 90 day goal marker I would only focus on TODAY and not relapsing TODAY. Before you know it you would have reached that 90 day mark. Also, I don't know what your reasons for going on monk mode are but you should have some other things that your striving for besides taming the fap beast. Maybe building a richer social life, becoming more fit physically and or mentally and spiritually, making more money, etc. Because of the affects the fap life fapping can be a stumbling to you in all these areas. In short, the ultimate goal is self-mastery and elevation. Putting fapping away forever. You can't put forever on a counter but you can live one day at a time. God speed my friend!

Appreciate the comment. I'm going monk mode as I'm not married and I shouldn't have sex outside of marriage for religious and safety reasons. The thing is I always ask myself "and then what?" like after 90 days. Semen retention does have its benefits, I believe and also from experience. But at the end of the day libido is only a natural need and pleasure and we kinda have to fulfill it. So my plan was to reboot in 90 days, initially at least, and then kinda rely on masturbating in moderation until marriage. I hope that everyone respects the cultural differences.

  5. I would just tell you to not worry about the numbers. Too many guys hit 90 days and then find themselves continually starting and messing up over and over. It's difficult!
To be honest, 90 days only represents a new beginning. Just do your best to never look at porn again. Never look at porn subs again. Avoid enticing images completely. It's hard work, but you can do it.
