The fact that it was a painkiller for you is the reason to abstain from pornography and masturbation. Our bodies aren't designed to have every bad emotion numbed. It's dangerous because you cannot numb negative emotion without also numbing positive emotion. When you numb depression, instead of talking and working through it, you numb your ability to feel joy also.
