should I tell it to my mom? (okay I told her!!!)

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Sep 20, 2020.

  1. I am a 16 years old Indian student. I started fapping when I was 12.
Now in this ever extending lockdown situation has become worse. Although I don't watch porn all the time but still can't concentrate on my studies. I am filled with guilt, sometimes I feel I don't deserve to live, I feel anxious and sometimes depressed.

So should I seek help from my mom?
should I tell her everything? what should be my approach?
[once she said to me, "even if you do something wrong you should tell us (parents), only your parents can help you without being mean"]

although she said this but i don't know how will she react

    Please help

    Your mum sounds lovely. :)

I would talk to her and explain that you masturbate to porn, but it is affecting you badly and want to stop. Do you have brothers you could talk to?

The best solution to your problem would be telling your parents; even if they aren't going to understand, their punishment for you will most probably help you. It's all about if you have enough courage to tell them and face the possible consequences (Obviously I assume that they aren't going to kill/disown you)

I did it. Yes I told her everything.
the best part is she didn't even scold me, she talked with me with great patience and calmness

  8. Communicating these things is part of maturity. If your parents love you, there will be no judgment and they will help you the best they can. Porn addiction is serious and whatever happens if you tell your parents will be for the best, because it is the truth.

  10. maybe but she probably already knows tbh

  11. yup I told her but she already had an idea about it

  12. Did you ask her to help you stop?

  13. of course yes, what's the point of telling her then???
well she asked me how can she help me.
can you suggest some ways, please.

  14. Maybe you could ask her to monitor your internet use. Allow her access to your computer and phone. Once you know someone is looking in, it becomes impossible for you. Okay maybe not impossible, you still have to do the work, but it is motivating enough for you to keep away from it.

I think you are in a really good position right now, having a parent or parents help you through something. Porn is a serious issue and you are still young. Get out well you can.

  15. An option would be to use Covenant Eyes, it is a software, which monitors your internet usage and will notify one or more selected contacts when you visit adult sites. You can activate the general filter for adult sites or specify yours. And the receiver of the notifications (your mum in this case) can choose if she wants an instant notification, a daily or weekly one. Your contact person also gets notified if you attempt to remove the software from the phone/computer.
You can try the software for free and have to pay money for it, if you want to use it further.
