So over the past 90+ days that i have been on NoFap, I've noticed that most of my relapses happen on my smartphone. While I would like to not use it if I could, I still need to for work, social life and well too communicate in general.

Currently I have blocked my samsung internet app, I've installed a porn free browsing app call spin. I have recently uninstalled POF and Instagram because they are a huge temptation for me.

My question is how do you make your phone as porn free as possible, any tips?

I struggle with this as well. I think the smartphone addiction is something separate from porn addiction, although it can off course lead to using porn.

I don't really believe in a filter as a solution to our porn addiction. If a filter is the only thing stopping us from looking at porn, we're already far into mental relapse, and no filter is going to stop us. The only 2 real purposes it serves, in my opinion, is that it can protect from triggers online, and that setting up a filter feels like really quilting that part of our lives, which helps strengthen our resolve. That said, I think the Spin browser is sufficient for that purpose.

The smartphone addiction is another thing. The same principles apply to both porn and phone use tho. Every time we get that new notification, or we see that new post we get a dopamine hit. Not as big as with porn off course, but a lot of tiny hits during the day. I think it really helps to identify what exactly triggers those hits. This video does a great job at explaining what's wrong with how today's technology works, and makes us addicted:

Then here's something to help make our tech less addictive, which I think is great advice:

It's written for iPhones but you can make it work for Android. If your can't make it work in your current launcher, you can always get another one from the play store.
On top of this I like to use this app to block my most time sucking apps for 1-2 hours at times when I know I'm most vulnerable to binging.

    Hope this helps!

  3. While I'm new to Nofap, I have blocked porn on my phone for a while now. I used a few things to lock it down: setting up my home network to use OpenDNS to block porn sites, locking Google safe search to always on, and an Android app called Stay Focused. It has the ability to limit usage for certain apps by time of day, total time, among several other features. I disable the use of both Chrome and Samsung Internet altogether during the day, which is my window of temptation. Get the paid version, which prevents you from making changes to disable settings. Not only did it make it impossible to see porn on my phone, it made me acutely aware of the time I was spending using anything on my phone (including merely picking it up and unlocking it), and overall I have used my phone far less over time.

It's been a couple of months now, and the idea is now so engrained that I cannot see porn or use other time-wasting apps for longer than the time period I have set that I simply do not use it for much, other than calls or texting. In the beginning, I was shocked at how many times I would check my phone throughout the day, and how much total time I spent on it. Once I became mindful of that, the phone habit diminished almost completely. It feels so good to reclaim that time. I no longer feel like a lab rat clicking away at a button in exchange for a reward.

This one is easy. Throw your smartphone in the trash and buy good old Nokia 105/150 or something similar. You can talk, text, read mail but you can't watch dirty pics and flicks :)

But seriously I use smartphone only when being at work and it stays in the office when I go home. My personal phone is Nokia 105. Cheap, reliable, durable and porn free by design.

That is exactly what so was thinking of doing as well. That ensures you cannot get to dirty flicks on the phone.

Hope your doing good Fenix! I am about almost four months down and looking for some libido pop but it is gradually coming back though. I know you said it took you about 5 months or so when I talked to you on another post. I am not too old, about 39 so was wondering if it would tale longer for me or not to reduce PIED symptoms.

I appreciate this, I'll take a look at it. My goal is to recover and then help people overcome today's modern addictions.
